Peter Laskiewicz I get your point about everyone using the same bike but it’s not realistic. In a race like the World Champs, not everyone’s on the same bike. Some bikes are quicker uphills and some are quicker on the flat so if everyone was to use the same bike it wouldn’t be fun
@joshtipton74175 жыл бұрын
@@alexbeldon3199 I think the comparison with the World Champs isn't completely the same thing, since in real road racing it would be pretty impractical to put everyone on the same bike but this is a video game. There's no reason why for the national champs they couldn't unlock all the bikes or at least put everyone on the same basic bike. Hacking the game to get the fancy Tron bike for yourself isn't really a problem and I don't blame Cam for that, that's just having fun. But in a competition like nationals I would be pissed if I had a slow bike and lost to someone who hacked their way to a faster bike. This isn't the real world, there's no reason why everyone can't ride equally fast bikes and why 'unfair advantages' like this are a thing. Much less a problem with what Cam did and mostly an issue with the format of the race (among all the other stuff he pointed out with the weigh-ins).

Certainly all race bikes should be standardized, maybe remove the power ups since they seem to be random for races like this. I think it's unfair decision, it is a strange fact that they let you choose a bike, if they want to have a fair race, they should have forced everyone to use the same bikes/tires etc. When looking into the e-sports segments, you often see that people are getting accounts when they are in the finals, they dont use their own accounts. In my opinion as a game developer I would just have opened up every item ingame to be used, or just open up 1. So then it's fair. I also dont think that "cheating" in zwift should be punished by a cyling organisation. its just some game settings, and most likely the other guys were using the same setup bikes. its a poor decision from a organisation who has no expierence in hosting a e tournament. The rules should have been there before, how should you know. Bart-Jan van der Laan agreed, and drug bans are not necessarily that much longer, he “may” of broke the rules, but i do feel the punishment was extreme due to the circumstances. If it didn’t have any significant effect on the results, on the day. And of course everyone knew what bike he was riding, it was just obtained via a hack. So the hack itself was the reason for the investigation and suspension , not riding that particular bike.

Your missing the point, the rules was broken, yes it maybe a stupid rule, but it applies to everyone. What i think is outrageous is the ban and disqualification. I mean people who have taken epo or inhalers, get this kind of ban... this is not in the same league, but has been given the same punishment.
@Quentijn5 жыл бұрын
I put this situation on the same level as someone who became a celebrity and then gets publicly shamed over something edgy they tweeted as a kid.. The tweet had nothing to do with anything, it didn't give an aid/advantage, yet one organization will make it out to be.. It's just sad to see this happen. When are they going to dig as deep for the other finalists? I'm sure every single one of them have had some questionable efforts on Zwift. Not that I am saying they should be DQd for it. I'm just trying to say; if you dig long enough on anyone, you'll find something to justify whatever you want justified.
@alfyoung92995 жыл бұрын
Cam, you will find as you go through life that large organisations like BC always hide behind their own rules and failures. This decision by them is obviously wrong . It is essential that you see that they are just bullies. You must just take a deep breath and not tie yourself in knots over this. Just keep doing what you are currently achieving. Don't let it get you down.

It's early days for e-racing and you've got burned by stupid regulations that can't keep up. Who cares how you got the Tron bike, they should just give everyone it for sanctioned races. I watch your channel because you're a cool dude. Keep making videos and I'll keep watching and giving them thumbs up. Also, don't let this stop you making zwift vids, that'd be a real shame. Ride on !
@waynosfotos5 жыл бұрын
Rob Pearce Agreed, this is a whole new platform and even the rule makers can get it wrong, I see this a sticky bottle rule. Yes he broke the rules and should of read the conditions, but then I do think the regulating body should of had a simplified rule book to get everyone up to speed, as it is a whole new platform. For the circumstances I do feel the punishment was severe. True dopers in real cycling can get six months, and I don’t see this being in the same league. Maybe due to his previous close encounter with BC, they saw it as a second breach and raised the penalty.

Hey Cam, I'm an occasional viewer and first off kudos for apologising on the off a genuine and heart felt apology and account of the situation. I agree fully with Nick the rules should be fully defined and adhered to by the governing bodies if this is to be a recognised and sanctioned race then standardisation of bikes in parallel to the power meter calibration is paramount and disappointing you were not taken up on you offer to help improve and bridge the visible gaps. I truly hope you can park the disappointment and can keep the love of an evident passion and inspirational outlet - Makes me glad for being old skool and suffering alone in my pain cave on the wattbike

Cam, sorry to watch this video. I have been Zwifting for now 4 years during the winter months here in the USA. (I'm 54) I loved the Tron bike from day one and worked hard to achieve the climbing necessary to get the bike last winter. However, I was denied the bike due o the fact that I had not clicked the button to enter the Mt Everest Challenge. This needs to be done in order to meet the "goal" of 50,000 meter. I had slightly more on a particular day last winter and went to get the bike and it was not available. I emailed the team at Zwift and they looked into my request. They were very good with communication with several emails asking questions. BUT, they would not release the bike to me due to the fact they I had not taken the challenge way back when I started. I was pretty pissed to say the least. I would have loved to have had that bike. I really worked hard on it climbing each time I rode and counting the vert as I went along, for 3 years. So I write only to say I am someone who LOVES your channel and will continue to watch. I love Zwift and have encouraged MANY fellow cyclists and runners to join. I wish they would allow me to have that Tron bike, but rules are rules as "they" say. My intentions from day one was to ride enough in order to earn the Tron bike. I think I earned it because the vert says I did. But, I did not enter the Challenge. Part of me understands and part of me says--wait a minute doesn't Zwift see I have a legitimate argument? Hang in there Cam.

Good honest evaluation of the situation Cam. Hopefully this will catch the attention of BC for future eRacing events. The eRacing platform is only going to grow from here, so there really needs to be concrete standardization. There may need to be a completely separate interface/software that is strictly for sanctioned racing that will remove the grey areas, such as bikes, trainers, HR monitors etc. If a rider’s privilege to participate in races that aren’t even on the eRacing platform can be jeopardized, the governing body NEEDS to provide concrete regulations and ABIDE by them. Cameron, this situation is really unfortunate, and you seem to be the victim of a system that has not properly prepared for the introduction of the eRacing platform. Chapeau for your humility amidst a frustrating situation that is beyond your control. Keep up the hard work!
