Fantastic lecture. The left ventricular wall thickness to me does appear significantly increased and cavity size small; but I believe this could be because the heart is contracted in systole (requires ATP and 02 to relax)

Could be HCM? Depends how old the patient was antemortem. But yes I think some of it is going to be postmortem contraction, but presumably that would have loosened somewhat.

So many comments about how we are all just flesh. I beg to differ! Your body is flesh, that's true, but it is animated by something that most think of as the soul. Imagine your hand representing your soul and a lovely glove you have slipped on representing your body. While the two are together you are "alive", and when the glove is slipped off leaving your soul on it's own you are " dead ". Or at least what we CALL dead. Your hand (soul) still exists, like if did before you put on this mortal body. The body ceases but the soul does not. So no, we are not just chunks of meat living a futile existence.
