I was listening to the somberlain this morning making breakfast and I am sad that the world has lost such an amazing musician ... we are poorer for it. Although I know Jon believed what he was doing was the best thing for himself,,, to do. I hope you’ve reached the land of seven horizons, the land of spiritual rest.

do you or can anyone enlighten me what the term “seven horizons” means or is from?

@@bardoface oh did he? Let's just take a quick look. He wrote and recorded 3 (ok at least 2) masterpieces that will stay forever in the pantheon of the greatest metal albums ever recorded (1st one at the age of 17 or 18 not sure). Two records of that caliber it's more than most bands achieve in all their careers

@@ricardopereira2746 I’m not questioning your appreciation of his music. I’m pointing out that he quit on life and committed suicide. A mistake. Freewill. Fine, but a mistake.

Fun fact: Dissection's last album, Reinkaos' publisher is called "The End Productions" and this concert was called "The Final Gig". Nödtveidt had probably been thinking of plunging into the primordial chaos for a long time.
@rodrigofonseca6241Күн бұрын
no doubt it was planned. He didn't killed himself because his wife cheated on him or lost money at the casino. He believed whatever he believed and followed it until the end.

Plus a little nugget of information: the last gig was supposed to be recorded as a DVD. Jon borrowed all the money for that and the venue. I don´t know what part Vlad had to do with it, but the fact that back then fucked the production company might have something to do with the fact that it never came out. I'm sure the producton realised the gem they had in hands and raised the stakes

I talked to Joakim Sterner from Necrophobic a few years ago. The band was attending the show. He sad, that the whole filming crew never got payed and so the footage was held by the filming company. I think after Jon‘s death things got messed up. Set Teitan answered me back then they originally planned to release the DVD within two years after the show. I think they lost focus and had a lack of money, interest and motivation. It’s really sad it never came out, cause it was Jon‘s will to be released. I was so lucky to attend their pre last concert in my birth town Osnabrück in Germany in January of 2006. Jon was a troubled man but always the kindest person you can imagine when it came to music and his fans. He always took time for a talk. He died for his beliefs and his musical legacy is absolutely outstanding, especially Reinkaos.

Wow that’s nuts. That’s the guitar he’d played for years 😮 that was a man with a purpose right there. Sad the purpose was stupid superstition and we lost one of the best writers in the genre

Without these superstitions Dissection’s music wouldn’t be the same, so it was how it had to be

Not the same guitar actually, but the same design. Set Teitan confirmed this

@@byronnel2181 I wholeheartedly agree with the first post, or at least the first part of it. That Flying V was a part of all the Dissection legacy. He knows it's his last gig, do you really think he was thinking about earthly stuff like "not gonna break up this, might need it in the afterlife"
