Great video, I love the album and I even talked with drummer Darius Davenport. (last living member) He even sent me a signed 2013 mono cd of the album and he signed my mono copy. I'll definitely share this with Darius.

I did my homework this time giving this album an initial listen. I also liked "Rampant Generalities", "Auto Salvage", "Land of their Dreams", but I liked "Burglar Song" with its jaunty melody and those string swells. I agree that this rewards further exploration. Great upload.

Regarding that Bear album, some interesting connections: Artie Traum and his brother Happy, based in Woodstock, went on to record 2 albums for Capitol, and both had long solo careers. Eric Kaz was variously in a late lineup of the Blues Magoos, issued 2 solo albums on Atlantic, and later joined American Flyer, as well as recording a fantastic album in the late 70s with Craig Fuller (Pure Prairie League) - he also wrote many great songs, not least Love Has No Pride (Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt). Steven Soles was in the Rolling Thunder Revue with Dylan, I think ... It's quite an incestuous scene!

You described this one well, there is a definite angular or askew approach to the songs which is what makes this one so unique and absolutely worth having. I know I got it cheap for like $15 and every time I've reexamined to see if it should stay, it overwhelmingly makes the cut. Gonna have to pull my copy again

Love this record. I've had people tell me it reminds them of Jefferson Airplane but I don't really hear that. The angular yet tuneful song structures are quite unique and sometimes the interlocking guitar parts remind me of Captain Beefheart's Magic Band (maybe that's why Zappa liked them). The title track is classic of course. Burglar Song's lyrics are kind of hilarious and the whole second side is solid. I used to play Ancestral Wants > 100 Days on my radio show all the time. I also heard the mono mix on the internets and I'd love to find that for the noticeable differences. Alias Boona is worth hanging on to. Took me a while to find my copy. I dif the Bob Dylan cover as well as all the callbacks to Appletree Theatre. Hamilton Streetcar is another Appletree related record, along with Ricky Nelson's 'Another Side Of Rick' which I have yet to find. Anyway keep psych rockin in the freak world, man

I used to have this album. It was rare when I got it but my copy wasn’t mint. But it was an album that collectors were into. It’s an album I’d listen to when I was not in the mood for more “regular” music. It’s definitely a bit unusual.

Here's one I haven't listened to in a long time. My copy is Stereo, never heard the mono mix. I remember liking this album, but it never wowed me. I didn't know about the Boone brothers. I know the actor Richard Boone (Paladin) was a direct descendant of Daniel Boone.

Certainly doesn't seem to have tracks that immediately hook a person in, but I find it to be a fun listen.

Hmmm..., not too sure about this one. But it was never on my "Hunt the sucker down" list for some reason, although I did stumble across it a few times in various places. I think it was down to reviews I'd read in the past, which gave the impression that it wouldn't really "tickle my fancy", because their sound was a little eclectic? Might have to give it a listen though, just in case, but I kinda think my fancy won't be tickled!😳

Yay! This is one of my faves. A little gem. Interesting songs.Quirky chord changes and excellent acid licks. Good to hear some history and information on them.Cheers Derek.

A lot of quirkiness, that's what's fun about it.

I remember that one being somewhat spotty - liked it anyway and used to have it. I usually prefer the deep groove mono copies of 60's LPs rather than the tinny-sounding "stereo" versions.
