Gilgamesh does get a handful of arcs in Dissidia Opera Omnia. He first appears as a secret boss in one of the Summon Illusion Worlds, and eventually becomes a playable party member after his Lost Chapter is unlocked. He also plays a significant role in the first half of Act II Chapter VI, where Gilgamesh tries to help a resurrected General Leo reclaim his fighting spirit after he learns about how Kefka destroyed his kingdom.

For some reason, seeing Gilgamesh square off with an amnesiac Bartz makes me kind of sad. He had some really heartfelt words with the FFV team during their encounters in the rift and even stopped short of admitting that he had hoped that they would meet again when the ordeal was over and see each other as friends before backtracking when he realized how mushy he sounded. So to see Gilgamesh being faced with the possibility of being plain forgotten (since he doesn't know that there's mind wipes going on) is just... well, sad.

Gilgamesh is a wandering thief, always has been. He has also always been comedic relief. He has an obsession with weapons, and tends to be either a klutz or a superboss. Sometimes at the same time. Thing is, FF5, FF8, FF9, FF12, and FF13DLC..? Its all the same guy. He just gets around... Same thing with Shinryuu and Omega, but not quite as clear. Its rather Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey...Stuff.

I love that this kind of implies that every single cameo from Gilgamesh where it's explicitly this dude takes place between his original banishment and when he gives up his life to stop Necrophobe. As if the reason he decided to stop picking on the party was because he had multiple lifetimes of realizing that fighting for the sake of loot doesn't bring happiness or further your name in the long run. It's fighting for something, or someone, that truly makes you a legend.

There is 2 outcomes of that fight, either Gilgamesh sacrifices his life or you win that fight before he does so. And him surviving is the canon outcome, I know this because Gilgamesh makes an appearance in Final Fantasy IV The After Years and calls out Bartz's name before he goes back to the Rift after he was defeated.

@xShadowBlitzx That is correct XD. He was in all of them, V, VIII, IX, XII. Hence why they were all there. The reason Zidane said "only" two arms was because apart of him recognized him but when he met Gilgamesh himself he had 4. Squall met him when he had 3, well more but he hid them and all. The closest(besides Bartz) of who should remember him is Vaan but I guess since their memories got pwned and stuff they just dont, y'know?

Everyone he stumbled into he met in his travels. The "master thief" who told you about secret chests and had airship cards from ff9, the random summon that smacked Siefer down in ff8, and a bonus boss in 12. All the same guy at different points of his travels. If FF1 Dawn of Souls bonus dungeon was canon, even Warrior of Light met him. Guy does get around the FF multiverse while tripping the rifts.

gilgamesh from ff5 is totally diffrent from ff9 but its still the same gilgamesh who travells around the universe, but gogo from ff5 who we saw throwing himself in the x-zone is also diffrent from his appearence in ff6, but people keep saying that is not him, come on he has the same name and the exact same powers, even the punishing meteor desperate attack is exactly like the one he uses in ffv when he punishes you for not mimic him!

@xShadowBlitzx But Gilgamesh always struck me as a Large Ham or Boisterous Bruiser in terms of when he talks, and Keith just doesn't seem very Hammy or Boisterous for a majority of these two scenes. If he ever reprises the Role of Gilgamesh in a later title, I wouldn't mind it, as long as he's Hammy/Boisterous more of the time..

I believe Square-Enix has insinuated a number of times that Sephiroth would be the single most powerful of FF villains. One, this game's depiction of Shantoto praising his power, while other villainous characters acknowledge her as being more powerful than themselves. 2: Kingdom Hearts seems to enjoy putting him in as the ultimate optional boss. Kefka would likely be a close 2nd place, but I believe that Sephiroth is the official ultimate villain for Final Fantasy.

All the Final Fantasy games take place in different dimensions. The Rift is the void between those dimensions. While characters like Cloud of Darkness and Ex-Death are able to utilize the power of the void, characters like Gilgamesh, Shinryu and Ultima Weapon are able to cross through the void to different dimensions, explaining their cameos and recurrences across multiple games.
