I am so tired of people telling other people that something about them is “a choice”. “Being gay is a choice.” “Being trans is a choice.” “Having DID is a choice.” You aren’t in someone else’s mind or body, so you don’t GET to tell someone else how they’re feeling, or what their life is!! If more people would just worry about themselves, and mind their own business, the problems in this world would decrease dramatically!
@arbormeow5 жыл бұрын

However at one point I saw her in my dreams for the first time. I talked to her and interacted with her like we were good friends. The next day or so, she started fronting again and she still does now. Kinda crazy how that works.

I recently learned about something known as Internal Family Systems, and it really helped me understand some of our more destructive behaviors. Like the fact that your prosecutor was basically trying to help you, just doing a horrible job of it. I thought my suicidal thoughts were like this splinter in my brain that was just trying to hurt me, but now I understand that it was giving me a sense of control. Like if my mind was going to hurt me, kick me and beat me down, I always had an escape hatch, albeit a permanent one. Now that I'm healthier mentally, when my suicidal thoughts come back (rarely, I'm happy to say), I sort of thank them for trying to help. I think "hey we can figure this out, maybe I will need you someday, but right now I need another solution because things aren't that dire yet." It has strangely helped me a lot. Validating the thoughts, telling them they aren't bad or useless and are deep down a good person, seems to sooth them. Internal Family Systems suggests treating every aspect of yourself like a child. If your kid is making a mess in a grocery store, you don't ignore them, you don't tell them they are a stupid screw-up, you grab them and say "Hey, I need you to stop making a mess, if you just stay with me, when we get home I will help you build a big tower of blocks and we can knock it down. This just isn't the place to push things over." It's like redirecting the behavior rather than trying to eliminate it. That total internal world-view change has really affected my relationship with myself in a positive way.

Recently we've been having recurring nightmares and when you started talking about the ones you had it kind of scared me because it's like oh my, I've had that exact experience. We've had the same nightmare recurring for 4 days and in all dreams it happened in the same building and the same thing happened. Over and over. We split twice because of those nightmares and had to take a week off school because it was too much to deal with. The nightmares were about a trauma that the host didn't know we even went through and so it really shocked and scared him when he started realising why he was dreaming about that happening. He's been denying us and our DID for so long and I think this is the thing that made it definite for him. These dreams felt so real and- (he kept saying things like "disgusting. Why would I even think that? Why would anyone do that? There's no way that happened. It's just a messed up dream. That can't happen to me") I'm an alter with -probably the most flashbacks, nightmares and PTSD in general, to be honest- in our system and I hate to see another alter or just a person having to relive and go through things like that. It's heartbreaking. Those nightmares happened last week and we're going to talk about them to a new therapist we're getting! (We're excited because the last therapists weren't too great) anyway thanks for reading. Also DissociaDID and anyone else reading this, I love you. You are important. You matter. You are loved. You said when you were lucid dreaming if you've realized you're having a nightmare you could wake yourself up, i wonder if that is also your system being protective without realization. I understand that everyone in the system has their own dreams but since you have met alters before in dreams could it be that your lucid dreaming stages were also there for an instinctive need to protect the system may be? It just made me curious i don't know if you've ever talked about it with the other alters about it so may be you have idk.

In my younger days I made the mistake of trying to restrain my protector and he turned into a prosecutor which lead to legal troubles because in a violent environment like prison and jail he had full control. I'm receiving therapy but it's hard to find a so called "specialist ". In fact I've spent most my life trying to get help only to be met with disbelief. Luckily now I have a therapy team that is trying to learn together with me my alters and even my ex wife but now we still struggle with making him a protector again after all the physical and mental abuse he has given not only those around us but ourselves as well.

During some movie scenes I was watching it, and in others I was one of the characters in first person. I had written that dream down in my dream journal so I'm pretty sure that's how it played out. I don't think I've ever had a lucid dream in the third person, but I totally get just going with the flow of a dream to see what happens next.

I get really (really) bad sleep paralysis at time and usually it’s a horrible experience, grim hallucinations and the like, and it can go on for maybe ten minutes or so. I often nap while listening to KZbin or podcasts, and a few days ago I fell asleep and had a really bad sleep paralysis attack while listening to your video (I think it was the one about your littles). This was the first time I’ve had sleep paralysis and and not had a horrific time, instead of having a panic attack or anything else like that I just chilled out and listened to you educating me about DID until I could move again, so thank you for that! That’s never happened before, usually when I’m listening to something while having an attack it makes it even worse, but for some reason your video didn’t do that! Thank you for all your amazing content :)

15 years of struggling, YOUR videos have helped me massively with taking my fist step to getting help. I know I have ‘aulters’ but will not claim any disorder without a medical diagnosis. Massive thank you 🙏. You made some disturbing thoughts and realities into something that doesn’t seem so ‘odd’ (wrong wording but) just thanks 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I just wanted to let you know how much I love your videos. My girlfriend has DID (self diagnosed atm but is planning to go to a professional soon) and before I met her I didn’t know that something like DID even existed. She gave me a rundown of what it was but I was still kind of confused and skeptical, but as soon as I found your videos it all started to really make sense and help me to understand who she is and how to help and and her system. So thank you so much and keep up the good work. But don’t overwork yourself. 😊

literally two days after posting this we broke up because it was long distance and the host of their system asked out a girl in their town so oof. luckily we still on good terms but like wow that timing could not have been worse.

This was a great video, very put together. Funnily enough, our next video for next week is going to cover DID and sleep/ dreaming. Guess great minds think alike 😊. -Kit

Now, I know why DID is always said "too good to be true" because DID sounds really really fictitious but well. I am the one who has DID and now thinks "oh that's why my whole life is like a movie" I don't even need to watch movie to represent my life. I feel more comfortable now and start to accept my system. Because the more I become denial the more dangerous it will be.

I love love Soul Eaters so much. I never really though about how profound it is to DID. The characters needed to work really well with their weapons which could be seen as alters. That scene where Soul is talking to this trickster who wants to take over his system by tricking him irt Maka just brought a lot more perspective.

I can never thank you enough for your videos. At first it was just curiosity and education. And now this one brought so much needed knowledge. It's 3am i had a terrifying dream that felt so real I couldn't bring myself to look around my room even I just immediately grabbed my phone to watch your videos. You have a calming voice and are so articulate and strong I feel courage from all you've gone through. I realllyyy don't think I have DID, but I've been working on IFS (Internal family system) with my therapist and there are definitely 'parts' I've discovered with ages, and appearances but (So far?) No name or role knowledge... as far as I know no one fronts and I have no amnesia...I know this is an old video and my comment is super long but I was genuinely terrified of my dream just now I felt everything and I have had lucid dreaming of an inner world since I was a child and I can't close my eyes right now without going right back so I'm awake watching your videos ❤

I appreciate a lot that you filmed this video, it was very brave of you and I know talking about it must have been difficult. Thank you for helping us understand how dreaming works and what a persecutor is. What you guys do is awesome!❤️

I love that you point out that just because something is happening in your mind doesn't mean it's not "real"! As you said, the brain is an organ as real as any other body part. I deal with a few mental illnesses in my life, and the attitude that it's not "real" has always infuriated me. Thanks for your videos. I have been watching your videos, along with those of others in the DID KZbin community, for a few months now, and I've found them very educational. What used to seem like a strange illness now makes so much sense to me.

We have someone who really really really struggles with sleep & we've literally wound up hospitalized for the insomnia in the past. Acknowledging her, listening to her and her fears/needs/etc., and being able to communicate with her some has helped tremendously with the insomnia. It doesn't help that she refuses to acknowledge that "any of this is real," though.

I don't know anyone with DID but you have opened my eyes to a fascinating and scary world. I really appreciate your extremely open and honest content that allows people like me a window into the life you lead. You are so strong and beautiful and I hope you know there are so many strangers out there that admire you. Thank you to your entire system for allowing the world a peak inside your mind.

I am the host for the former @Kesha Rhinestone system and as a Brit living in Long Beach who grew up in Wembley Park in the London area and even though the body has never been to London, we're still on UK time and wide awake at 3:42 in the morning California time after 4 hours of sleep from 4am to 8am UK time. We just ate lunch and now going down for an afternoon nap with it being quarter til noon and pitch black (or might as well be based on circadian rhythm)

Thank you for the sleep tip. This is now Nadia. I'm a 25 year old mum with a one year old going for a nap for Isabelle's system. It's just after 12 noon and pitch black because the body's in California even though I'm in London.

This could not have come at a better time!!! Last night, a couple of us were dreaming, and got the chance to look in a mirror within one of our dreams. Saw a person who looks very different from the body (an alter I as a host met for the first time). Our dreams were incredibly vivid and immersive and our memory about those dreams is VERY good. Near total recall. And I’m personally used to seeing rapid and drastic changes of dreams, but our dreams have gotten to a new level of different for us recently. Wonderful to hear your perspective and experience, and it’s informative and affirming as always. Thank you!

I have really appreciated getting to know all of you through your videos. I know Sally says many refer to her as "pure sunshine" and she IS SO kind, but I must say that Chloe's honestly and kindness shows through as shining a ray of light onto DID. I have so much respect for Jade and her protectiveness of the system and the littles. I think it is so very brave of you to share your stories and experiences. I appreciate the complete honesty of all of you, and how, even though some of the alters have reservations about the sharing of the complex journey you have all been on, they speak highly of the host and the education you've shared with us all. Thank you all so much for your generosity in sharing your lives with us. I am new to this, so I hope I addressed all of you in the proper and respectful way. Best healing thoughts and wishes from America.

You teach me so much every time you post a video, your so strong just by talking about this, and (from a diff video) I agree with jade how this could be very dangerous due to people who take advantage of people. And I'm so surprised that you talk about this. But thank you so much for teaching us. Thank you all of you from me!(I love all of you guys)

Storytime: Yesterday I met up with a couple friends and somehow DID came up as a conversation topic. I was able to inform some of my friends about it, and even introduced them to your channel. It makes me really happy to know that you're using this channel as an opportunity to inform everyone about DID from firsthand experience. I know it can't be easy, but you're definitely doing the world a favor. Great video once again! Lots of love 💕

interesting stuff as always. I'm really glad I found your channel otherwise I'd have taken Split or Criminal Minds or anything like that and assumed that's what DID is. I was going to say I hope youre okay but that sounds a bit silly, so I hope that your youtube and DID community can make you feel safer. (not that that doesn't sound even sillier.) you're doing some really fanatics stuff.

Thank you so much for telling us your story with meeting a persecutor in a dream. I think we can all tell how much strength that took you to talk about. I’m so proud of you! When you were talking about not allowing yourself to live purely as a martyr, that really hit home for me. Love to all the alters! Hope you have some good night sleeps and beautiful days in the future 💕

At 11:25 onwards, I almost started crying, I understand the feeling of not having any worth so strongly, I am still going through those feelings and my counselor is currently trying to help me, it makes it seem so much more real when you hear someone else say exactly how you feel
@crypticluna83595 жыл бұрын
I have been able to acknowledge I am in a nightmare and forcefully wake myself up since I was a child. It is only with nightmares, never normal dreams. And it's always been really interesting to me I hadn't met another person who could - so hearing that there was a period of time where you could do that makes me feel...I'm not sure the word for it. A synonym for validated, but I guess it also isn't really validation. Just..nice. I don't have DID, but my dreams have always played a very heavy roll in displaying emotions I wasn't processing. For the longest time, though, I wasn't aware of what any of them meant. I'm very detached from my emotions, so everything was finding it's way into my dreams. And a lot of it was very scary. Your nightmares must have been so terrifying, but I'm glad you were able to learn what you needed to from them to better yourself.
@heymickeyheyhey5 жыл бұрын
Cryptic Luna I used to have tons of nightmares as a child, and I did this quite often. I don’t really do it anymore, as I almost never have nightmares now. It’s quite a bizarre skill to have, isn’t it? But super useful to protect your mind as a kiddo.

This reminds me of how our core met Silva, one of the protectors. She was dreaming of a deep, dark cave that appeared to have no end, and the light of Silva's wings (she's a faery) led her back to the light. She presented herself at this point because our core had lost her childhood friend to the dreaded S word (I don't want to inadvertently trigger someone) and had decided to give up on writing and creative outlets in the pursuit of her own self-destruction. Silva is a creative, free-spirited alter, and she convinced our core not to give up on her dreams. Thank you for sharing your story, Chloe. It must have taken a tremendous amount of courage to face that memory again. Thank you.

I love how much I get out of these videos even tho I do not have DID. I have OCD/anxiety/depression and tend to ruminate over thoughts and put a lot of guilt on myself. The part about being a martyr really resonated with me. I tend to strive to be my best and am really hard on myself/put myself last. I am realizing that it is not always good to be that way.

I was watching one of my fictive alters' dreams once without realizing it. I've also met him several times in dreams. He's dedicated to keeping my health from failing completely and making sure that I know I'm loved. He's often forced me to go to sleep when I have insomnia. Just like you I used to be able to realize I was dreaming sometimes and change nightmares into something less scary.

Hello! I’ve been fascinated by this disorder lately, and I appreciate your being so vulnerable in sharing and educating as best as you can! You ALL do that so well. I hate people continue to discredit and disrespect your disorder. My husband experienced some terrible childhood trauma and was fortune to escape without developing any major disorders. It’s terrible and so undeserving of whatever and any traumas that happen to anyone or especially you guys, but even if that’s the case....what you are doing and what you went through is helping so many people. DID or not. So that alone in itself is amazing and do what you need to do first and foremost. But thank you so much for all your information and sharing your experiences. ❤️ sending you ALL happiness, healing and good thoughts!

Honestly, I'm working on getting a diagnosis for OSDD, and the longer that passes the more confused I get. I had a dream last night of a very kind but apathetic person named literally just 'orange person' and I'm struggling to find out if she was an alter or not. I just have to say, though, your videos make my entire week so much better. I'm always looking forward to them simply because of how amazing they are. ^^ Thanks you so much for helping people understand about DID and OSDD. You're one of the bravest people here on youtube. My communication with everyone has been sucky lately, but I know that most of them see you as a person who helped us as well as inform us. I can't express my gratitude enough.
