Searching for Distant Shores III. I visit Poland and tour the Delphia plant. Then a testsail aboard the Delphia 46DS. It is a true pilothouse with raised saloon. So you can see out from the table, and while standing in the galley. You can also steer, seeing forward from the helm.
The Delphia 46 is very strongly built, and has the most storage space I have seen on a cruising boat this size. Well organized galley drawers, cabinets, closets throughout. A great live aboard boat.

Great boat and a good video, Paul. One thing not mentioned that I noticed is that the CNC mould plug carving machine also 3D prints the foam blank before final shaping with the cutters. Right up there...peak of technology.

Thanks William! I loved watching the CNC machine :-) Hi tech indeed and great that Delphia can have it right there to prototype things quickly.

i built 54 foot and 64 foot boats for 15 year , and yes you can use cables for the steering , i done it :=) . I wish you would do a review of the Sirius 40DS , i seen factory tours on utube but no real reviews of this boat . It can be had with a deep draft , twin Keel and Shallow draft swing keel . From the factory tours on utube it seems to be a very roomy boat for it size . thanks
@DistantShoresTV
@DistantShoresTV 8 жыл бұрын
+reginald burks Yes I think they might be able to use cables, the problem is the pedestal is right above the aft cabin berth so perhaps they worry about headroom is the mechanism sticks down a bit... the Sirius looked very nice. First time I was aboard one in Dusseldorf but not sailing :-)

Yes definite advantages inside for the twin keelers VS the box and mechanism in our Southerly.Your 58 would have been a VERY big boat inside :-) Nice!
@Thinnegan
@Thinnegan 8 жыл бұрын
Nice and clear review. The wings on the keel look like a bogging hazard, but a nice boat otherwise. Just a question; since you're in the market for a shallow draft, exploration oriented sailboat, what are your thoughts on aluminium boats, such as the french built OVNI, by Alubat?
@DistantShoresTV
@DistantShoresTV 8 жыл бұрын
+Thinnegan I have admired the aluminum, Allures, Garcia Exploration and Boreal. Very nice. I think they would be very good for us but Sheryl vetoes them due to the look of bare aluminum :-( There are also some more maintenance issues with aluminum but the boats do look good.

Dang, that has more room and storage than my first house! So what do you mean by less performance? Sluggish helm? Doesn't point well? Or maybe it just doesn't feel "right."

Does the Delphia 46 have a cabin heating system that can be used while underway?

i have sen some negetive commments made on delphia,s quality in a forum (2007) . what u think about 46 for blue water crusing . as in same class oyester , amel , x yacht are much more expensive
@DistantShoresTV
@DistantShoresTV 7 жыл бұрын
They are tough well built boats - good for ocean - I think regular draft would be best. Price is cheaper than Oyster - finish quality woodwork etc is nice but not Oyster. Would make a good offshore boat I think!

I wonder what happened to this boat. It was thoughtfully designed and the price was really competitive. Somehow it just didn't make a splash in the market and one can rarely come by one today.

I mean I know it's been made, not massively but still a good number of hulls. I lived in Toronto Canada during the years it was on the market and I've seen one in a broker not far from me, keeping in mind that Toronto is not a maritime city.

the boat looks fine and quality seem good. I like it alot. But i must say that i dont trust polish workers. They have a reputation to be cheap but sloppy and many expensive mistakes are being corrected by local workers.
