You realise that that pipe was probably there when the house was built which was around the 1970s according to bob. Over the years the pipe has probably been oxidising and the material around the pipe was probably getting weak. So I don't think it needed that much force to break because it was probably on the verge of breaking off with any amount of force. But the bush though, that probably did require a lot of force.

@@thawhitecletis4569 I read a couple of articles and see that the general rule is they last between 50-100 years. Hey, worker from Lowe's here! We are horribly understaffed nearly everywhere because the company hires mostly part timers, who's hours they are allowed to cut however much they want :D If those hours are not cut, upper management doesn't get their bonus so they're encouraged to cut hours. Which is why you were on a call for more than an hour, there literally wasn't anyone there to answer for the department.
@jaynestrange2 жыл бұрын
I worked at a Lowes store for a while & can second this! Also, they don't actually really train their employees, so the people that work there often don't know any more than the customers do. For me at least, training was a day of being taught how to get customers to buy more, with no information of any of the stuff the store actually sells. Also, where I live, Lowes usually fires 75% of their employees right before their probationary period ends, so they never have to give benefits or raises or anything. Since that period is about 3 months long, most people working at Lowes have worked there less than 3 months.
@wolfsongrising2 жыл бұрын
@@jaynestrange Gonna just make a note of this and never get a job from lowes ever, unless I'm that desperate I guess, thank you both of you for this information.
@daedalusspacegames2 жыл бұрын
I can also corroborate this, although as I'm in the logistics part of the store and not a customer facing role, I've managed to hang on for around 8 months. Fun fact, driving a forklift is a required part of my job, but they didn't bother to officially train and licence me on that until month 5. I was unofficially driving the forklift from about month 3 onward, because it was otherwise nearly impossible to do my job. Oh, and they also can't be bothered to maintain the forklifts and other equipment either, so half the time we're having to work around equipment malfunctioning or being straight up broken. At one point, the forklift I was using to unload was overheating, I open up the engine compartment and the coolant tank was empty and *bone dry*. Per my supervisor's instructions, we poured bottled water in it and hoped it didn't need something more sophisticated.
People of the internet, I present to you: Corporate America, in a nutshell. 😑😑😑

I used to work at a Lowe’s store during the pandemic. I worked the customer service desk a number of times. The hour and 17 minute phone call, calling the store several times, waiting for the department to answer the phone after God knows how long, it’s all 1000% TRUE. Not one person who bought an appliance during 2020 had a successful experience at any store. To this day they still have issues with customer service. I can’t recount how many times everyone up front, passive aggressively, “reminded” departments that they had phone calls over the PA system waiting for SOMEONE-ANYONE-to answer. The minute you said you bought a fridge and had a difficult time at the start, I knew it was Lowe’s.

with appliances unless you have double doors appliances have to be unpacked before going inside. the 5 layers of packaging to protect the unit make it much bigger than most most doors width wise, and some even the doors or drawers front needs to be removed as well to get it inside. the styrofaom alone inside on the unit expands it a foot each way. alot of companies though will usually wait unit they get closer to the actual door to test it first just to make sure, sometimes it can be pushed through without dinging or denting the front.

This is my favorite episode, BY FAR. Also, personal ghost story time! My wife's grandma passed away about a year ago and a few months after she passed in hospice care. My wife's parents (grandma's full time caretakers) got rid of her hospital bed and put a queen size mattress in grandmas room for us to sleep in when we come to visit. I was laying in bed with my wife shortly after parents put the bed in there and the TV turns on to the detective channel in the middle of the night, which is what grandma used to watch constantly when she was alive. I talked at the tv and said, "Grandma, this isn't your room anymore, you can't be turning on the tv like that in the middle of the night." Thinking I was laying on the remote or something. TV goes off. I find the remote on the tv stand under the tv. Hasn't happened since. I was too tired at the time to be scared, but it freaks me out looking back.

Hilarious. Hope Bob learned some things:. As homeowner, he IS Boss. The deliverers are pro's at taking the fridge off the truck, unpacking it, plugging it in, and MAYBE disconnecting / connecting a water line. As for the specifics as relate to the house, the homeowner is BOSS and--by default--job foreman. The homeowner says where the delivery people can and cannot go, and is safe in assuming they are idiots, in need of direction. But as job foreman, it's his responsibility to know where the breaker box is, the water and gas shutoffs are, the yard layout, where the meters are, where the breakables are, etc. Also, if delivery people damage your property, get their info, take some pics of the damage with your phone, write up a quick note on the time and date and the detail of the damage, and have them review and sign it. Then you can call a pro to have the damage repaired and pay for it, and send them the bill. If they refuse to pay, sue.

Even the animation portrays it as height wise, but dumb and dumber here had it LENGTHWISE. Just every finite detail from thsi story makes it sound like some people were posing as delivery guys and had no idea what they were doing. Who tf would even hire that? Who trained them? Like I- ugh.

Someone else in the comments mentioned that Lowes is horrifically understaffed, and as someone who's worked at a very understaffed business (UPS) I can understand exactly how this happens - those were the only guys they had who would show up and do the job, no matter how badly they did it. You can't fire them because no one will be there to replace them.

only thing i can think of is they had it from one side (which is usually wider) and it may not have had anything solid underneath the back to put the dolly under, and putting it on the front is way to risky. that being said they could very well just be THAT incompetent and there was something on the back
@therealvibes89552 жыл бұрын
