Love the background you created, Kristina! A variation--if you don't mind waiting for a while--would be to leave the plastic in place on the watercolor paper until the ink dries. That gives something of a neat marbled effect. Obviously, though, you couldn't heat set it to dry. Great choice of colors--tfs! :)

I discovered that using old piece of cotton clothing like worn out pajamas instead of paper towels is much better. They soak up much better, they don't shed or tear, they can be washed, and if they get too dirty I just toss them in the garbage since that's where they were going anyway. And paper towels are horrible for the environment.

I bought the Neenah cardstock after noticing so many people use it in crafting but my projects come out sooooo flimsy and out of shape when I use it. Beautiful card, as usual. I'm just wondering how you avoid / correct Little imperfections on the die cuts? Any time I use my word dies I can always see little bumps from where the holes in the dies were. I've tried flattening them out with a bone folder but they never look pristine.

Kristina, will this be similar finish as using regular distress inks? I just can't afford to buy all new ink pads, although these oxides seems really great.

No, Oxide inks have their own look. They behave somewhat like Distress inks, but these are creamy and you can stamp with them on dark surfaces. Tim Holtz has a video here on KZbin where he shows the differences.

I have tried to use embossing powder overtop of dried watercolor before and found that my embossing powder clings to the whole paper rather then just the versa ink, basically ruining my project. Do you thinks it’s my paper or embossing powder that caused this?
@kwernerdesign6 жыл бұрын
Your watercolor probably isn't completely dry. You might let it dry some more and also use an anti-static powder tool. That's where I'd start.

The only problem with this technique is when doing the "smooshing" with the ink and water, it really warps the paper in the drying process.
@kwernerdesign7 жыл бұрын
My paper wasn't too warped. If you're worried about that, you could tape the paper down and carefully flip the sandwich bag over. I've done that in the past, too.
@evanyo19867 жыл бұрын
Could you make a video that compare distress ink & oxide? Your voice is so soothing and I love your videos!!
@AlysonWhite7 жыл бұрын
Evan Xin Er Hong Jennifer McGuire has done this already if you watch her stuff. Basically the oxide has pigment innit so you can stamp on black and other dark coloured papers whereas regular distressed doesn't show up as they are dye based. Plus oxide colours 'pop' as you saw when they are exposed to water. That's pretty much it. I'm glad I didn't invest in distressed as oxide as more options. Looking forward to more colours coming out like distressed!
@DonnaJo34527 жыл бұрын
Constellation27 You have to dry the paper with a heat tool on the front and back and that will flatten the card stock almost flat. When you adhere the card to the card base, just be sure to use plenty of adhesive.
