Distribution of Confiscated Smuggled Rice 09/22/2023

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. distributes 1,200 sacks of confiscated smuggled rice to the identified beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in the City of General Trias, Cavite on September 22, 2023.
The rice being distributed in the City are still part of the 42,180 smuggled sacks of rice worth PhP42 million in Zamboanga City that were forfeited by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in one of its warehouse raids last week. Per existing laws, these confiscated sacks of rice will be donated to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for distribution to its beneficiaries after failure of illegal importers to defend these activities in 15 days.
President Marcos Jr. recently distributed rice to 4Ps recipients in Zamboanga City and Zamboanga Sibugay as he reiterated his Administration’s commitment to address smuggling and illegal hoarders that negatively impact the agricultural sector in the country.
Likewise, the Chief Executive leads the turnover of various assistance from the Department of Agriculture (DA) that include palay and vegetable seeds, fertilizers, grass-cutters, hydroponic kits, etc. to around 200 farmers.
