Maybe he forgot to account for time dilation. :) Honestly, I think a sequel wouldn't work well as with the tech gap with the prawns they are likely to come back and curb stomp the world unless humans are smart and the prawns aren't vindictive, and the humans back away while the prawns pick up their people and the prawns don't lash out as long as they are unmolested. I would be neat to learn more about the prawns backstory, but I don't know whether that would work well as a film.
