Just a note, there is no way that power plant produces 4000 MW. Massive coal power plants produce 1000 MW. I'm curious what the actual power output of system is and how much energy in kWh does it provide the community annually? Thanks!

Listen carefully! 4KMW annually! That means it’s roughly a 1-1.2MWH generator. That’s about right considering the size of it. Virtually identical to those found in wind turbines.

I think he meant 4000 KW = 4 MW is about 4 wind turbines I used to work for a system supplier and we sold 100 KW transformers which went to supply 20 homes. ( 5 KW per home ). That would be 200 homes per 1 MW or 2 MW for their 400 homes. That means they are pumping more back into the grid then their community uses. Good for them Would be nice if they mentioned the head, flow rate and capital cost. Looks like a Pelton wheel so that would be a head in excess of 500 feet. Hydro is much more reliable then wind or solar. Hydro can be used as a base load.

I checked their website. It's a 1.1 MW system which is about equivalent to ONE wind turbine. That's enough to power 220 homes. In a community of 400 homes, that's significant but only about 50 % of the homes. At 1..1MW X 24 hrs/day X 365 days/year equals 9.6 GWhrs of power per year. They produce about 4 GWhrs per year so less than 50 % of capcity. In total they produce about 25 % of the communities electrical power. I sent them an e-mail asking for head and flow rates but no response after a week. Their website is long on platitudes but sort on real info.

There is a huge impact on the environment. Look at all of the machinery, diversion canal, etc. How much power does it really produce? How much machinery per megawatt. These small plants contradict the law of Economies of Scale. They are small and extremely inefficient. You would need to make a major impact on the environment to produce enough power for our modern standard of living.
