David Draiman is one of the best singers out there. He was trained as a cantor, he also has classical training, Stunning versatility.

I first heard Disturbed's cover of this during Standing Rock in 2016. #NoDapl. There are two videos of what atrocities happened to the water protectors in Standing Rock with this version played over them. Talk about sobbing.

I love reactions to this. Your's is wonderful! David Draiman makes you "FEEL" the power and passion. Simon and Garfunkel wrote and recorded this in 1964 as a Folk Song. When Disturbed did the cover, Paul Simon told them it was their song now and posted the video on their websites. The 1964 song was a warning. This (2015) version is the Anger of not heeding the warning.

you need to go and listen to the original by Simon and Garfunkel (bit before your time) and listen to the original. One more singer who is becming very popular now is Morisette Amon, listen to her Never Enough (on the Wishbus), then her Defying Gravity and Ain't been Done (a Jessie J cover)

Great reaction to a now classic cover. In one song Disturbed and David Draiman flipped the bird to everyone out there who considered Metal bands second rate musicians, and singers. After this song, if you haven't seen them, my next two react suggestions would be: Dimash: SOS ( I am a Singer or Slavic Bazaar, live videos) There is a reason many consider this guy the best singer in the world, now. Marcelito Pomoy: The Prayer, on Wish. An amazing, and unique talent. Both are shocking and unexpected performances the first time that you see them. Maybe some vintage pop? The Carpenters: We've Only Just Begun Bee Gees: Staying Alive (It could just be me, but one thing that I noticed was that your voice and music levels seem mismatched. I found that I had to turn the volume up for commentary and down for the music)

An other life changing performance for you - ''Grace'' from Jeff Buckley (studio version please) and another ''Hurt'' by Johnny Cash (which is a cover from Nine Inch Nails). Those 2 songs should leave you just as engaged and ''shaken'' as this beautiful song cover by Disturbed. NOW for a real shocker : Jinjer Pisces live session... This will knock your socks off guaranteed. You will be shocked at first as over 60,000,000 people were but if you give it a chance and keep an opened mind... If you found this to be shocking, as I did, you're really going to be shocked when you go hunting for more songs by Disturbed! There are a few 'ballad' type songs, but most are heavy metal, which I loved as well. The entire band is EXTREMELY talented! I hope you enjoy your journey. I've liked and subscribed. I hope you are adventurous and enjoy a variety of music! Would love to see your reactions to a powerful American/Korean solo artist named Ailee singing a live cover of ballad: 'Everyone', link provided: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqvZiJ2XZ6-rm5o or French solo artist named Christophe Mae singing upbeat pop: 'Resiste' : kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZjdm3p6ZsRmfdk

My interpretation of this song revised: This song is written with two separate people or consciousnesses singing it. Those that are waking up and those that have been awake for a very long time. The first, third and fifth verse is sung from the perspective of the unawakened and the second and forth verse are sung from the perspective of the awakened. Hello, darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence Hello, darkness, my old friend is about people that have been kept in the dark and they're telling the darkness that they are experiencing something new in their vision. They (the awakened/aware ones) planted the seeds of truth/Light, and they are just starting to become aware. In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'Neath the halo of a streetlamp I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence There are fewer of the awakened, and they feel as if they are alone under the Light of truth, because they refused to by into the lies the dark has been trying to feed them. Then one day they saw a crack in the armor of dark, they saw a opportunity to break the sound of silence. And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share No one dared Disturb the sound of silence And in that moment they saw all of the light workers/star seeds (awakened Ones) telling those that were still asleep the truth/Light, through telepathy those that were sleeping heard and saw the truth/Light in a very subtle way, but yet they couldn't share this Light/truths with anyone for fear of being attacked by those that controlled the sound of silence. They wrote the truth in songs, the truth had to be give covertly as not to disturb the sound of silence (the dark). And when the people became aware of the Light/truth and realized that they had been in darkness the whole time, it really pissed them off. "Fools," said I, "You do not know Silence like a cancer grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you." But my words like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells of silence They reached out to those still in slumber, trying to give them Light/truths, but they wouldn't open their minds to new truths, instead remained in the sound of silence. And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming And the sign said, "The words of the prophets Are written on the subway walls And tenement halls And whispered in the sounds of silence." The people were so caught up in working hard to pay for all of the things, the boats, cars, electronics, all of the toys that they covet. They couldn't see or hear the truth, they were too distracted by consumerism. The awakened/prophets have been trying to tell them through their songs and poems, and that whisper of Light/truth awakened the people from their slumber and they became ONE. Did you notice the ship sailing into the Light at the end of the studio version?
