@awill3454 well in reality they did not have a clue. That is the meaning of cluelessness. Their clue to link him to the murder was provided by his mother. In this context, the word clueless is used correctly, however you are offended by it because it is often used as a euphemism for stupid. The word's misuse is not your fault.

I don't agree. Perhaps some very rare cases where someone cannot be led the right way, from an early age, but I really doubt most cannot be guided properly, the core issue is our corrupt, shitty and merciless society we live in. These people are grown into being this way, even a psychopath can be a productive member of society. Mind you, that doesn't mean I don't view this man as bad or dangerous, I just don't believe he was born to be bad lol, its a very childish way to view these things.

There is some similitude between this case and that of Adam Lanza who shot 20 children and 6 adults at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. In both instances the parents of these children were aware of the child’s longstanding significant mental illness; yet they seemed to minimize the problem. In both instances, school authorities expressed their concerns to the parents, but it seems the process never moved forward. IMO these children should have been institutionalized long before they committed these atrocities.

watching the body cam footage of him and his parents was way more unsettling than I was expecting. he had people all around him to help him, like when he drove his car in the water both his parents were there immediately to help him and he had local friends he texted and messaged online about and hung out with about driving his car in the water. you’d think people with anti social qualities like this would be more isolated from their parents or peers.

Anti social personality has nothing to do with whether they have relationships with family or friends. They don't care if they break the law, and when they do they have no remorse. They don't care who they have to hurt to accomplish their goals. They can be glib and charming and manipulative.

On the outside, Brian is no different from anyone else, society uses looks to condemn someone after the fact and make themselves feel better. The truth is, looks do not predict things like this. Ted Bundy, Dennis Rader, and John Wayne Gacy were all people who were killed but who were pillars of the community, people who were never considered to be killers. Superficial judgments like this are part of the reason why more killers will emerge ad society gets farther and farther away from making an impact and helping people.

At 40 it shames me to say I was a lot like him as a teen. I often thought about taking someone out that wronged me in some way. Between the ages of 13 and 17 i was arrested 9 times. Each one was stuff im surprised didn't get me in a juvenile prison. The last time I was arrested i was sent to anger management, and meeting with a therapist once a week for 3 years. I was taught empathy and how my actions affected other people, my parents and family, and how they affected my own life. I haven't been arrested since i was 17, and i still go to therapy 23 years later because I don't ever want to go back to that person. I know that's not a possibility, but i feel better continuing with counseling. If it helps any, i was raped by my grandfather for several years as a child. The people in my life now have said they cant imagine me being like that. Therapy helps so much, but it takes parents not ignoring the red flags being serious getting their child the support to deal with trauma

This mostly pointless battle of the experts as to whether a defendant is mentally ill continues to astound me. As the doctor pointed out the second prong is the issue: whether a defendant understood and appreciated the wrongfulness of his acts at the time the acts were committed. Therefore one can be crazier than aunt June yet not meet the legal definition of insanity. Finally this is one of the few issues in criminal law where the burden is on the defendant. We are all legally presumed to be sane and the burden is on the defense to prove otherwise. These reasons are why the insanity defense rarely is successful.

Because most parents who have mentally unstable children do nothing. (Usually they caused the instability) To charge the parents would change legal precedent and shock society (by forcing parents to take more responsibility) Most parents are unable to take that level of responsibility. (That's also not even considering we don't have enough funds/proper mental health care to help everyone.) Basically, it's 'too much burden ' for our unhealthy society to handle at the moment. This case should be a cautionary tale for every parent. When your child exhibits concerning behavior, ignoring it and hoping that it goes away is never the best option. Getting a child into see a professional, certainly won’t make a child murderous, so the best odds Are for children who receive professional help early on. The odds are not great that a child suffering from conduct disorder is going to turn out perfectly fine, but the odds are significantly better than ignoring it and putting everyone else in danger simply because you do not want to have to face the fact that your child has psychological problems.

his parents are also at fault here. Both of them were well aware of his violence but didn't seem to take it seriously. They didn't make sure he took his meds, they shrugged off the warnings of teachers and friends who said he was going to be a serial killer and they didn't even attempt intervention after finding a serial killer kit in his room. They both knew that their kid was evil but didn't have the willpower to actually do anything about it and just hoped he'd grow out of it. I don't think this was a surprise to them I just think they are upset because their lives are over. The father shares the same name as his killer son and the mother probably no longer has the daycare.

Brian hated his parents, so for a parent who is hated by their child trying to help them, there is bound to be resistance and a roadblock. Eventually, no one knows what to do or how to help. Yes, his interests were dark and he liked studying serial killers, but that did not automatically mean he was going to be a killer. There are other factors internally that parents, friends, nor anyone else couldn't see, factors that were well hidden and indistinguishable.

I saw another video on the actual arrest and interviews. His poor mother was distraught as she was the one that discovered the head in Warren's closet. Not knowing what to do she picked up the plastic bag the head was in and put it in the kitchen sink. Hoping that it actually wasn't real, but still suspicious enough due to the events of the previous night that Warren had with his car, she rang the police. Listening to the call is harrowing. When the police officer arrived he took one very brief look in the plastic bag and then quickly thew a towel over it and said "Yep"

Imagine having a tough life that leads to becoming homeless, yet somehow against all odds you manage to grow old while maintaining your dignity and honor. One night you awaken to spend your final moments being stabbed through the neck by large autistic child. In a panicked shock you try desperately to understand why anyone would be doing this to you. Your life slips away without an answer that makes sense. Warren Barnes was failed completely by this world. At least he will be missed. The same can't be said for his killer.

“How long does it take for a body to stink.” Well, there are many factors including heat and humidity, and does the person stink already. In the swamps of Florida during the summer months, for example, a body can be skeletonized within one to two weeks. But after a day or so it will stink up a storm. Just ask Bobby Joe Long or Oba Chandler. Those two are experts although they’re no longer with us, unfortunately, as the Great State of Florida decided to give them the needle. I was heartbroken over both their untimely deaths.

I got into an argument with someone who thought the skeleton of Brian Laundry was fake. Said there was no way it could become skeletonized in one month because "a body doesn't decompose in warm water"!! 🙄 I finally convinced them by pointing out that if you put one whole raw chicken in a pot of cool water and one in boiling water, which one will cause the meat fall off the bones faster? I swear, some people just take up valuable oxygen.

I have the exact same diagnoses as Cohee. Autism, ADHD, and Major Depressive Disorder. I would never even consider doing something like that. He’s obviously very intelligent so he certainly knows right from wrong at the cognitive level, even if he doesn’t feel guilt or remorse. He very clearly knew what he was doing. This young man was deeply troubled and disturbed but by no means was he insane. The fact that there were even rumors about him killing cats should’ve alarmed his parents. I guess it’s just too easy for parents to turn a blind eye when it comes to their own children. Had Brian received the counseling, therapy, and medication that he needed he could have possibly turned out okay. What he did is inexcusable and he deserves his punishment.
@malinnicole6677
@malinnicole6677 4 ай бұрын
He does and he is getting his punishment, but that does not mean he feels no remorse now. Three years to sit in a cell and reflect on what got him there, the horrible thing he did, is enough to get someone's wheels turning. While I do not think he'll ever be able to make up for what he did, I do think he can turn himself around and better himself, to turn away from his past actions and get the help he needs.
@CorvusMoon22

I can’t stop watching this case. Not much is known about young Cohee. He’s obviously not mentally well. The parents seem quite strange too. He has a brother but nothing is known about him. I feel there’s more to this story than meets the eye
@malinnicole6677
@malinnicole6677 4 ай бұрын
There is certainly more than meets the eye; not enough attention is put on his mental state. I certainly agree with focusing on the victim and remembering him, but it is also important to look at Brian's state and not just his actions as everyone else does. Brian suffered from severe self-esteem issues and was feeling unfulfilled in his life, he sought some way to fulfill himself and decided, after hearing so many serial killers say how good murder is and seeing himself in some of the serial killers, that murder was worth a try to fulfill himself. And it worked. Hence why he could have become a serial killer in the future. The feeling of fulfillment is incredible and something that a person doesn't want to let go of; if murder means he feels fulfilled and his mental state improves, as a human, he is willing to repeat this act when he knows it makes him feel better. It is a repetitive notion that humans have, we see it in people with substance abuse issues or alcoholism. It makes them feel better, so the next time they feel bad, they use that vice as a way of making themselves feel better. These vices may not always be healthy, but at the end of the day, they are to help someone feel better.

it bothers me how he talks about “receiving mental health treatment.” the way he says it makes it sound like receiving an anabiotic to cure an infection.
