Aside from sounding like a friggin parrot whenever he does the “RAH-RAH”, I think he still does a fine job singing this song.
@pronounced.c1oud3 жыл бұрын
ngl, the RAH RAH is alright, looking at how he used to do it both before and when Sickness came out (see: the CBGB performance), the _real_ gripe is in “IS she alright, IS she insane, WILL she now run for her life in the battle THAT ENDS THIS DAY”, he sounds like he’s stepping on a dog, but looking at how long he’s been performing live i can’t blame his voice for ending up that way
@racingfuel282 жыл бұрын
@@pronounced.c1oud he may not do as well on some of the songs from Sickness, even though I still think he does most of those songs really well (just listen to him do Down With the Sickness now, and it still sounds great.) But his voice does actually sound better in some ways now, he can’t do some of the screams quite the same, but I think what he does really well is that he realizes his voice isn’t going to sound the same as it did when he was 20, so to account for that, he just writes music to fit his voice now. It still sounds really good, and it is still metal, just a little different sound. That’s where a lot of artists go wrong, they keep trying to write the same stuff that got them famous, not factoring in that their voice changes as they get older, plus people don’t want to listen to a band sing the exact same song with a different phrasing for 20 years. It sounds different, but still good, and it keeps your old fans listening, and keeps you relevant so that new fans can find your music. Writing Evolution was a genius move on the band’s part, especially coming off the tidal wave of Sound of Silence, because that song showed them that fans were open to the acoustic stuff if it was done right, so then they could write an album that still had your heavy metal songs in it, but also sprinkled some acoustic stuff to attract new fans. It is because of Evolution that I myself am a Disturbed fan. I loved Sound of Silence, then really liked Evolution, and slowly started listening to records like Ten Thousand Fists, and Indestructible, and within a year was listening to everything they’ve ever wrote.

This is a song that when played live, has suffered the ravages of those vocal bleeds that David went through... otherwise still excellent.

what bleeds with this singer ?
@beyondleftfield44703 жыл бұрын
@@grifyn882 you were not aware of why he sounds so different and can't scream? Because he is the only signed vocalist to successfully return to tours after having his vocal chords bleed (not once, but twice) due to terrible techniques.

That's a VERY unique cymbal set-up on the drum kit.... is that a common Disturbed occurrence? I can't say I've ever seen that style before, with cymbals fastened to a metallic rod structure built over the kit... it's trippy and futuristic! :3 Unique aesthetic, indeed.
@Kush715799 Жыл бұрын
Drum racks, they have been around for decades. This is a flashy two tier rack, with suspended cymbals. They do look cool. But to answer your question, Mike has always used a large cymbal setup, usually with a standard 1 tier rack, used to be Gibraltar, then Peral Icon racks.
