this song was written for David..Simon and Garfunkel had a vision of the future..David is living...We are living in an age that ( just the other day going out to eat..watched a whole family with their heads down looking at their phones , never talking ( and texting(words with out speaking)...we are all turning into a society that has become numb to human interaction...where do we go from here,,cell phones and social media has destroyed us. I am 49..at dinner we talked about our day and got advise..I would sit on the porch with my grandparents and learned lessons about life ..If I would have had a cell phone would have never heard their amassing stories and lessons ...We need to all smash our phones and interact again...we survied with out the cell phone and can do it again..We have such a disconnect now. ..

@Trevor212304 жыл бұрын
Not anger, but anguish. In both his voice and especially the orchestral backing can be heard the echoes of pain felt by hundreds of millions of people, and the sorrow he feels at their suffering, mixed with the anger towards society for ignoring what should have been such a simple warning. Anger is not a complex enough emotion to properly describe the feel of this version of the song; anguish is much better.

This gets spread in every single video of this song LOL. He was NOT classically trained, he'd be the first to tell you this. He learned how to cantor when he was a young boy at Temple. That is nowhere near being classically trained. Despite receiving the odd voice lesson here and there (so that he could do the vocal fry technique properly- aka the growling), David pretty much taught himself. Which, I think, is more impressive.

Great reaction to the greatest cover of any song I have heard since I was a teen in 1968. David Draiman of Disturbed has blown every other cover of this song away. Not surprising since Draiman was being classically trained as a cantor, the most important figure after the rabbi in the Jewish worship service. The cantor conducts the liturgical portion of the service by leading people in singing & prayer and who must know long passages of Hebrew by heart. They also must have excellent singing voices. Fortunately, for the public, he was expelled several times from different yeshivas and he decided he was not cut out for that life. As a result, we have this heavy metal singer that can bring people to tears with the beauty of his voice. So powerful and hauntingly beautiful. Can't think of anyone who can compete. Please do yourselves a favor and watch Disturbed's Official Video of this song, so much more powerful than the Conan show version. So glad Office Bloke Mike got to react to this song since he was the most familiar with the original song!

Someone always comments about the S&G version being a warning and the Disturbed version being angry. But for me the S&G song is an all time great song. But it has really deep meaning that’s lost for me in the folky happy style it’s sung. Before Disturbed that wasn’t an issue for me, I liked it anyway. But now. @@lindagourlay1892 Thanks for your comment and your opinion. I'm sorry to say that I disagree. I thought their reactions were legit, which is more than I can say for at LEAST 95% of what you find on here. I'm glad you at least found something to enjoy in Mike's reaction though. Stay well!
