if you haven't heard the original, you should check it out. If for no other reason than to see what it started as. Being that this is the version you heard first, I would guess that the original would seem rather quiet and passive to you now. But hearing the original gives you that much more appreciation for the power and emotion that David Draiman expresses in this version. I liked the original version fine, but the first time I heard this version I was awed by how powerful it is. TL;DR if you have to choose one, this is definitely the one to choose, but you should listen to the original if you have the opportunity

I lit one for your brother, or any souls that may be wandering close by, to have a safe rest. The Inuit have a tradition of stacking flat stones, into the rough shape of a person standing up and pointing, along a route as a marker of the path home, a spirit guide. This song has been my favorite since the original came out in 1964....(yes I'm old...lol) but THIS...THIS is how I always envisioned the lyrics SHOULD be sung and the music played.
