Cockroaches are notorious for living in sewers and sewer pipes and survive on an unlimited supply of decaying matter in those nasty places. The bricked off archway with cockroaches pouring out through the wall almost looked like a manway portal in a sewer system. Thanks for laying it on the line and bringing us along for the ride.

A little Lackawana Coal & Steel sludge! I remember when I first started boating on the West Branch of the Susquehanna in Lock Haven the mine acid from the local coal strippings would literally remove the galvanized coating from the transom of our boats. Lol me too. Nost of this seems more modern made as typical coal mines. But i noticed a few spots here and there that appeared to be unusually large blocks " " that were out of place not the smaller bricked up columns or doorways. If anything this looks more like the theory of these caves having been ancient oetrified trees, the big boys like hangman1128 talks about. The coal being burnt wood, the quartz and gold and minerals being its sap...the carved caves essentially digging out where its roots once were before the fire and brimstone and flooding...

The mob dumped a lot of chemicals and oils into a particular mine here called the Butler. Anthracite coal mines that is. There's like 100,000 gallons of potassium cyanide still down there so I've read. It was a federal superfund site. They pumped over 6 million gallons of oil down an old vertical air ventilation borehole. Look that story up.

There seems to be A LOT of Iron Oxide around. Maybe from the Cast Iron pipes? as well as the surrounding Rock Ore. But the one thing is there's a lot of is; moisture. I'd even venture there's a body of water above, or some deteriorated main water pipe source that is saturating that area. Seemed to be loads of sediment rather than slow-seeping mineral deposits in the tunnels. Plus I think there must definitely be a food source for the cockroaches behind that brick archway. They were congregated in a a nest behind it. I wonder if the Hotel's basement foundations were founded by an old Iron mine? Could be a passage into the very lower levels of the hotel building structure behind those bricks? So many questions and wonders!
