Definitely agree about The Elementals! McDowell’s Blackwater saga feels like a summer read for me, even though it’s a serious commitment. I’m also gonna say Summer of Night by Dan Simmons is a favorite.

The Elementals is totally a summer horror classic for me as well! Even though I didn't love Paradise Club, I would eat up reading so many books in that same setting. It was a lot of fun!

Books to scoop out your insides is the perfect description! Love it! ☠ 🐕‍🦺Cujo 100% ruined my life! He was a good boy! Definitely the King book that bothered me the most. 🏝Forgotten Island is such a perfect pick. Those kills, my dude. Wild! 🍽Sara from the Amulet has definitely stayed with me. That's probably not a good thing lol 🔪Kill Hill Carnage looks AWESOME! Def need to check that out!

I read my first 2 Sodergren in the last few months, and I'm hooked! Adding forgotten island to my summer list! Have you read the sequel to the riverman? I have manhunt on my shelf, but haven't read it yet. I'm not sure which is worse....turning into a man....or having to eat balls for the rest of my life? hmmm.

I haven't read the sequel to riverman yet! I'm very nervous about it 😂 Yes! True! Estrogen is also found in the brain but it's probably more difficult to get to 😅

After reading my first Sodergran, which was the beautiful love story called The Haar (😂), I am so into his stuff. Wait, Forgotten Island is about spiders?!? SAY LESS! Reading immediately 😂 Yup. Gone to see the Riverman scooped my insides out!! Adios, insides!! I love your disclaimers throughout all of this 😂😂😂 needless to say, you’ve added so many books to my TBR. I read seasonally (and horrifically lol) so this will come in handy!! CCM FOREVER!!!!!!!

I’m always on the look out for new horror! Would recommend Jurassic Park for a summer read. I was glued to the pages the entire time! I would also recommend Shutter Island even if it’s not explicitly summertime but a good thriller and mystery nonetheless! Great video!!

Idk if I could read The Forgotten Island. I've noticed that Cujo has been popping up lately. I can remember Kelsi talk about The Nest. Love The Haunting of Hill House! Manhunt sounds unsettling. Fun recommendations!

Nest is now added to my TBR for my camping trip this summer! I just read Deadly Animals by Marie Tierney and that was wild. It's marketed as more of a crime/thriller but I found it horrifying.

I have a few David Sodergren books on my Kindle. I'm thinking of doing a Sodergren summer vlog. Gone to See the River Man is such a great and haunting book. I have Manhunt in my TBR cart. I need to check out some of the other books you mentioned. Great summer recommendations video!

Great video! I will be reading Maggie's Grave by David Sodergren next month, after loving The Haar. Off Season is the most terrifying, disturbing book I have read and I absolutely ate it up! 😂I adored Gone To See The River Man, need to read the sequel soon. Michael McDowell is such an underrated author. Good choice with The Amulet, that was a wild read. Exquisite Corpse is on my tbr, loved Lost Souls. Manhunt sounds...interesting. I am saving Cotton Candy Massacre for Halloween.
