Exactly... I ditched the arm guard like you said and then the finger tab and glove. It's made me a better archer.

It really does make you more conscious of your form! Thanks for watching.

Please note that you really do need an armguard shooting the ASL or Hill style bow for two reasons, One, the bow is gripped very differently, and two the brace height is quite low. All of the ASL shooters, such as Howard Hill, John Schulz, Byron Ferguson used an armguard.

You’re correct. I have shot a Howard Hill and a Norther Mist. I did not wear an arm guard on when I shoot them. But there was a few times I’ve smacked my arm. If you’re wearing loose clothing the guard definitely helps hold it close too.

This is such good advice, especially for girls to pay attention to as their joint anatomy in their elbow often lends itself to smacking your arm with the string. Many men have the issue as well, it's just more common with women. (it won't hold you back, a friend of mine won a gold medal in the Olympics and he has a severely double jointed elbow) Unfortunately, my wife smacked her arm with a bow string really bad and she refuses to ever pick up a bow again.

I used to smack my arm so bad too! And it was a painful lesson to learn but now I’m so glad I did. It completely changed my shooting that’s for sure!

I never used a armguard, from the very first shot I made

Why not just work on your form and get it right and whether you wear one or not it doesn't matter
