If you think about it, its even more interesting that he does it. Cause Korean isn't his native language. So when he can't find the right words in English or something, he thinks of it in Mandarin and then translates that into Korean for who he's talking to. It's really interesting considering he speaks like 5 languages.
@deadleaves58

@@Kalimatai17 he's talking to eric, so i think it's only natural. language is closely tied with an environment. and i'm sure they talked exactly like that, switching from english to korean, all those years.
@laura7204

@@Kalimatai17 To be specific, I think Cantonese is his actual native language it’s not rlly Mandarin because he was born and raised and is from Hong Kong, which the two main languages are Cantonese and English, third being Mandarin. So actually he translates the words he thinks from Cantonese to Korean. But I get what u mean. Also the only reason people hear him speak mandarin more than Cantonese is because Mandarin is more international and a more well known language than Cantonese.
@hiddenguard958
@hiddenguard958 Жыл бұрын
@@Kalimatai17 his native language is Cantonese. Not mandarin. And when you are so use to one language, you brain doesn't look for a word to translate. You just do it. Specially if you know the other person will understand you. I do that with my son a lot. When I don't know how to express something in Spanish, but i know the word in English. We just keep talking spanglish, cuz we understand. The same with Jackson talking konglish with Eric

former baby bird here (early 2016 - late 2018!!) barely like 20 min into this & i already really love it- it's so much more raw already than other eps since they're so familiar/comfortable with each other & can skip over the small talk / getting to know each other (even if its been a while since they last sat & caught up). honestly have not kept up much w jackson since 2018 let alone post him leaving jyp but it's nice to see how he's able to be way more honest and gotten more mature but still has that same sense of humor- also cool to see him talk without all the pr restrictions of being an 'idol'. his temperament is still so comforting and that's a really special quality

I think this is the most in-depth interview where I learned the most about the "behind the scenes" aspect of the Kpop industry. The level of professionalism and drive from Jackson, being 28 years old is crazy! I'm the same age and while our lives are VERY different, I wouldn't be able to grind as much as he did. That's a lot of success and life experiences to be had at that age.

I've always liked the Daebak show, Eric's interactions with any guest are invaluable, but particularly this episode, I think I felt very relatable, what Jackson was saying the way He talk about that year and a half, is exactly how I felt in my life. And feeling like I couldn't say it was even more painful or frustrating, thank you so much for the episode, for this show. Greetings Jackson!! Gracias Eric por ser tu y por estar devuelta en Daebak Show!

This was truly one of the best interviews with Jackson I have ever seen! Bravo to Eric and the DIVE team! This was such a deep, respectful and vulnerable conversation. Jackson truly is such an exceptional artist and as a fellow artist I am always so inspired by his work and relate to his perspective on art and admire how his mind works. I wish him all the best in the world and I hope he continues to heal and that he will eventually reach a place where he truly is just happy and satisfied with himself and his work. His music videos are my favourites and his latest album truly is a masterpiece and I listen to it all the time. Keep on fighting, Team Wang!

Good luck to anyone trying to sub this. I think Jackson flip flopping between languages is so cute because it’s relatable. But I especially love the deep talks between these two. Their banter history is the stuff of legends even from way back, sincere and insincere, all of it.

I love how insightful this interview was. Jackson’s mind is truly incredible. When he talks about whether he should value greed or be true to himself, that was relatable and honest of him.

Jackson it's probably the most honest artist that I know of, I'm not a fan of Got 7, I've just know of them, I'm not exactly a super fan of Jackson's music ( I do have him on my playlists) but my point is, he looks so true to himself, I think I've never paid that much attention to an interview before, I was just fascinated, and happy he's trying to be the better version of himself, you just can't hate him, he's like general culture!

I'm just pausing at around minute 46 where you, Eric, say that maybe what your're talking about is some sort of comfort for someone here watching and listening. And yes: it is. Listening to both of you talking about struggles and mental health makes me feel less alone in my own struggles and less "worthless" in my imperfection which I still cannot embrace completely. So it is indeed a constant process as you say and I just cheer both of you on and everyone here going through some though time because I also feel that some sort of beautiy/art comes exactly from this place and this vulnerability. This beeing said I'm going to enjoy the rest of your conversation with Jackson. Love your relationship and interaction with each other 💜

excellent interview which touches on a lot of important issues for an artist. It's not unusual for creative artists to suffer doubts, anxiety or depression. The greater the artist the greater the challenges. They are asked to use whatever creative talents they have to produce a product for the enjoyment of audiences, audiences which can be at times difficult, demanding, selfish and even harsh. Finding what works and at the same time finding personal satisfaction for the artist is always challenging. So many artists, both great and lesser, during the term of their careers have found it necessary, at times, to withdraw from the public so that they can heal from the stress of having to "produce" and "entertain"...and from the stress of having to continually expose themselves in such a personal way to the public. It is not just a 9 to 5 job with a lunch break. It is a never ending effort 24-7...and burnout is not unusual. No matter how well intentioned "handlers" are they never can walk in the shoes of an artist nor can they feel the inner emotional longings and dreams of an artist. That is why it is so very important for handlers to understand that every artist needs "space" to breath....relax....and to find their inner peace. If they do not find that space in their lives to achieve inner peace, they can self-destruct. Love of what they do, drives their art, but they must also find intimate LOVE that supports their inner emotional life. I wish that Wang and Nam will find the pathway to that LOVE. I'm sure that they do not lack from attention, but that attention does not necessary translate into LOVE. Life passes quickly and there is nothing worse than finding oneself alone in the final phase of one's life having perhaps achieved career notoriety, but having lived one's life as an emotional orphan! Intimate bonding with the one you love is the only way to ensure that your artistic life will also remain healthy and happy. All artists need a deeply personal relationship with someone that is built on LOVE and TRUST otherwise they will suffer inner loneliness even when surrounded by family and admirers. I wish them both Peace and Love.

I was curious about JW, but now I understand him more. He is very deep and he is very well-spoken. Please keep on doing this kind of conversation because you both will inspire a lot of people. I will wait for the “Light” video that JW is talking about. Hands off guys.. To JW, please know that you inspired a lot of people with what you shared about your struggle, you might not know, but maybe you are saving somebody’s life out there. ✌🏻 ❤️
