Good job, boys. Decent visibility. Variable pitch blades; nice. Well done, stay safe.

If I was that diver I would want the ignition keys in my BCD pocket.🙄

they do. they take the chief engineers tally card, which disables the ships shafts. this tally card is held onshore by the divers mate.

Every ship has a "lock out/tag out" checklist. Before a dive, the dive supervisor will usually walk to the engine room, and watch the switches being pulled and the locks being installed.

@@jasonarcher7268 in previous decades the propellor was locked by the diver himself using an arabs trap.

I too had the same problem when a fishing net had been eaten by proppeller on starboard and port side. Had the work done in 2days with a compressor and a knife. Prolly 6hours of work each day as the water gets too cold every hour passedby.

I got to BROCO a huge cable out of a tug boats prop once. That was the only time that it was fun to mess with an entanglement. The worst, were the monofilament lines that worm their way past the rope guard and into the seals.

The ship engineer and bridge officer will not unlock the prop shaft or run suction intakes during diving ops,

Isto não parece com "mooring line" ( linha de ancoragem), parece mais com um cabo de amarração....

I am surprised to apparently be hearing the engine running. Even if the shaft is locked and the drive not engaged, it would seem to me that shutting down the engine would be a good extra precaution.
@commercialdivingandmarines30743 жыл бұрын
The main engine and thrusters are locked out, the noise you hear is a generator on the ship.

VancouverCanucksRock Indeed, a friend of mine works for a concrete company and he has to get in the big site mixer and he takes the keys to the plant with him so he doesn’t become part of the red-e-mixed concrete. See what I did there?
