Did 6 days of diving with DiveTech in Grand Cayman because of your recommendations which I highly trust since you clearly do a lot of vetting and have high standards for things. They were great, thanks for this video!

We dove this in April of 2019 with Pirate Divers! Such a wonderful dive. Loved learning about this ships history and just exploring the wreck.

Thanks for a great episode! I’ll be doing a cruise dive excursion in March, hopefully this will be part of that journey.

Cool to see DiveTech featured - I've done several weeks of training with them and found them to be a great outfit. Got to meet Menno although I didn't get to dive with him. Did my wreck cert on the Kittiwake with Serena several years ago and got an inside-the-ship tour with Tony on my last trip there. Definitely a not-to-be-missed dive.

Nice video buddy! It was a pleasure hosting you and looking forward to our next adventure together! Glad we could show you the Kittiwake. It is a fun dive for both first timers and experienced rust lovers like yourself. It is big enough to be a proper wreck, but compact enough to cover most of it in one dive. With the interior cleaned of obstacles and natural light everywhere it is a great first wreck dive!

I will be diving this wreck in about a month. One thing I'm puzzled by: divers doing penetration without a reel. I was taught that I should always lay line in a penetration dive.

James just picked up my first piece of equipment. Scubapro gorilla mask. Tried a bunch of different masks and this gave me the best for. Low profile and checked all the boxes for me. Really pumped.

The Kittywake was my very first dive as a certified diver and I've managed to go back and dive it again. Such a great dive.

I wish I'd found your channel sooner I was actually in Grand Cayman and dove the Kittiwake the week this video was posted. That dive was my favorite dive so far. The wreck is well prepared so it is not intimidating. Not so much a wreck dive as a series of swim throughs, and shallow enough to allow for a reasonably long dive.

Looks amazing! Do you need to be a tech diver to get into the wreck like you did? Or can an AOW do it? Or do you need wreck certification? I always wonder what is the limitation on this. We went to Jordan once and went into a plane and wreck but the instructor said it was his judgement call rather than the certifications we held. Cheers!

what camera did you use for the underwater shots ? , what is the purpose of the tank on the side rather than the back ?
@Findingmenno5 жыл бұрын
Hi the camera used for this video was a GoPro. I'm the diver in the video with the tank on the side. It is a different configuration called sidemount diving. It originally came from cave diving. It gives both a smaller diver profile, and you can easily clip a tank loose and push it in front of you. This allows the diver to more easily go through smaller passages. I also dive it often in open water like on this dive,.
