Just as much chance of that diverter failing as the silicone around that first pipe which would also act as a diverter. Also I wouldn’t worry about a diverter when the pipes are that close to the top of the roof, minimal water flow at that point. Definitely something to consider where the penetration is near the bottom of the sheet where water volume and flow is a lot greater.

Understand your point. The plumber had put these pipes in the wrong position after we had set it up 1 meter away. The reason we did the diverter style was so to not back lap a flashing. It is sealed in the same manner as a box gutter. Thanks Greg.

@@ConstructingArt yeh box gutters should be banned on residential homes imo. These homes with undersized box gutters, soakers and side exit spitters into rain heads should never make it past the design stage. A lot of issues would be alleviated before a hole is dug onsite, but it gets drawn up by an award winning architect, sent to the pre fab framing companies, constructed by an award winning builder and then signed off by a roofing company using unqualified subcontractors. Only for the home owner to be left with a ceiling falling down in their master bedroom 2 years later.
