Very cool! Looking forward to part 2... definitely when you come back to Michigan. Let's get together... Hope to see you un Utila by December 🙂

Thank you! Part 2 is a bit more static and just equipment talk, but hopefully educational!

I like your drone into the water transition and you thought nobody would notice .... very cool!
@DiveSAGA Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Fun fact: It's not a drone shot actually! In two weeks I'm uploading a video with all the equipment used for these dives, including the video side of things!

@@DiveSAGA Looking forward to seeing the "video side of things". I understand you use GoPro's quite a bit. I'm a big fan of the GoPro this is from a diver that started with film and housing and all that expensive (and heavy) gear now I just love the simplicity of the GoPro. The u/w videos on my channel are all shot on a GoPro.
@DiveSAGA Жыл бұрын
@@peterneubauer9712 yes I agree. For a lot of video tasks the GoPro is great!

not sure why, but what a great episode, your attitude was amazing. your ability to go from teacher to student was amazing. Thanks for capturing it on camera and sharing it with us.

Great video Nick. I got my Ice Diving Certification back in 1979, in western Pennsylvania. Back then we were required to make our first dive in a wetsuit. Talk about a shock as the 34 degree water works up your legs. That dive was limited to 30 minutes, if you could make it that long. Next dive was in a Poseidon Unisuit. Man, what a difference. I have made several ice dives since,, but never another wetsuit ice dive. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Woah! I'm definitely glad I was in a dry suit! 😄 Thank you for sharing that! 👊

Congratulations Nick!! What a cool accomplishment … pun totally intended! 😁 You came to Michigan - my neck of the woods - to get certified! To bad we couldn’t have scheduled a couple of dives while you were here. Maybe next time. Loved the footage of the ice … so beautiful! It was interesting to hear about the freezing process too. I did not know slower means more transparent. Looking forward to part 2. Thanks for sharing your journey. 🤙

Great episode, Nick! Ice diving has been on my list for years, but this might force me to take the class next winter.
@DiveSAGA Жыл бұрын
Consider joining! I might go again! Especially because they're working out how to combine it with an under-ice wreck dive!
@BrentDurand Жыл бұрын
@@DiveSAGA that would be epic, although for me as long as the wreck part doesn’t require tech qualification…!
@DiveSAGA Жыл бұрын
@@BrentDurand they're actually looking for something shallow, like 30-40ft but they haven't locked anything in yet. The idea is to do the actual ice diver training in the weekend and then cut a different hole elsewhere above a wreck a day or two later. I'll keep you posted!

An other great watch T’each.. I would love to see an episode about Titan Triggerfish and swimming with them. Diving with them has been a huge learning curb for me and I think so many people have questions and concerns. You are welcome in Thailand! Loved this episode, much closer to home for me :)
