If you're wondering about Enpremi: Back when Galu was the head of Divide and Conquer, he decided that the old main loading screen for Divide and Conquer (the one that appears when you initially boot the mod up) was way too dated and didn't serve the mod well. As a result, he and the team at the time decided to make a contest out of it: Discord users could submit their own custom made loading screens, and the winner would be honored within the mod in a manner of their choosing. The winner of that contest was a user named ... Enpremi. As I'm sure you can guess, Enpremi's wish was to be put into the mod as a Lorien general. The general's biography is a reference to Enpremi winning that contest. In addition, just in case you don't know, many of the loading screens within the general loading screen pool are other entries for that contest. Some of DaC's players happen to be incredibly talented artists. Rumil and Orophin, however, are actual characters in the lore. They're Haldir's brothers.

I love DAC, probably my favorite game, I spent like 3000 hours on it haha. But I spent a year and a half modding it too, for myself. So I just added the slowly recruiting Woodland troops from Caras Galadhon from the start of the game, like really slowly replenishing, and if you unify you get them a tiny bit faster. But if you attack the Woodland Realm or go isolationist - you lose the ability to train their troops altogether. I did the same for the Woodland Realm campaign, as it really showed the Elves working together, and I like that extra flavor :)

What do you think about an idea of rushing Dol Guldur? I once did it in my Lorien campaign and even if casualities were pretty high in the whole process, shutting down their main production center was a huge blow and it also prevents Nazgul from respawning.
@jacobenke7936 Жыл бұрын
If you get lucky you can sometimes catch them with a unit standing right outside. Out on an open field with no capital garrison Dol Guldur is a joke for elves.
@giokun1007 ай бұрын
Bad idea, if you let the AI grow it and take it around turn 70-89, it will have 30k population. If you take it early it will be stuck to around 16k. Also if you are lucky, Dol Guldur may take Anduin settlements and you can take the entire area without reputation hits.

I loved the unification script in my Lorien campaign, but it threw me into enormous debt. I just recently got out of it and am finally able to build up. I now have a land border between Mirkwood and Lorien, and I think I have the snow orcs and dol Goldur on the ropes (I’ve had dol Goldur since the early-ish game). Dain’s hall is mine as well as Goblin town, and dol Goldur is down to just a few towns and castles, and they’re just sending a trickle of low tier orcs at me.

Lol, the man doesn't really spend much time or thought in setting up his army -- after setting up an intense Mordor army to fight. Then, gets blasted. Hahahaha, cause & effect. Happens every time I underestimate the AI & send a smaller army, or a "trash" army ahead of my other troops, & sometimes get thrashed. Love this game. Thanks for all you do brother!!!!!

I played Lothlorien a lot in previous version so here some tips (hopefully not outdated): - If AI is still holding settlement centres it means most villages around and in Mirkwood are deathtraps. Not only can you unload on enemies without care in the world - you also get huge hill directly next to city center that enemies must go around to access. Let AI take them and waste anything Dol Goldur can muster, - It isn't the question if but how should you defeat the Dol Goldur. I advice against rushing DG itself before turn 20. It costs you too much in economy development. Mirkwood is also one of the worst regions on the map when it comes to settlement wealth. Let AI build it up with their difficulty cheat a little. From my experience taking DG between turn 30-40 is ideal and deleting whole faction by turn 50 allows for developing your core lands enough to match either Isengard or Mordor stack spam, - Elvish agriculture sucks lembas. Only dwarves are worse in it. Many good ancillaries come from cultural&entertainment buildings. You have above average law bonuses and squalor reduction on your governors if you optimize for it - meaning in long campaign you will do much better than other factions with many regions supporting bigger populations - Rebuilding basic structures for instant replenishment of recruitment pool is a thing - use it to accumulate at least 6 foot archers per stack to avoid attrition through concentration of fire. Optionally you can for laugh just spam and overwhelm Orcs via numbers - Elventide is possible by turn 50-60 and your first tier of units definetely isn't bad to keep playing even after turn 100. - Skirmish away and be on offensive to exploit AI - Lothlorien archers are the closest thing to Line Infantry you have. Also Marchwardens had way more ammo total than their woodland cousins so prepare for long skirmishing phase in battles. There is little need for Cavalry as you can catch routing enemies with your infantry - no problemo. - Yavanna Chosen are a workhorse of your army for midgame. Stacks halberds on top other units (preferably other Halberds) and watch the carnage. They are really cost efficient at deleting other heavy infantries, - When it comes to general ancillaries you can get above average +movement speed and +after battle replenishment. If you need to recover cavalry or some archers throw some militia elves to their deaths before battle ends and recover most of vital units ;), - Regarding guilds it ain't that bad. IRC only Woodland Realm can rival you in getting final level of your Dance Guild so with Union script you are guaranteed for final level. Otherwise: - cultural building gives +20/+30/+40 points respectively per building level, - Inns give +10/+15/+20/+40 points per respectively per building level, - Having Governor with 9+ Chivalry gives 4 points per turn to that settlement, You need 100/250/500 points total for Dance Guild levels. Easiest way is to keep rebuilding basic building with fully developed masonry (I'm almost certain Cultural building can be reduced to 1 turn buildtime and inn definetely can be) it can be achieved relatively quickly and cheap while also helping you develop Taxman/Administrator traits on your governor, Having cracked Lothlorien campaign and min-maxed it it was really fun experience. Being just above difficulty curve and helping Rohan with Isengard and Dunland then marching onto Mordor was memorable. I consider them slightly more difficult that many players think because being in literal center of the map is much less safe than other elven factions (not only you have to initially delete "immortal" Dol Goldur but also will have to contend with Isengard and Mordor which were famous for their unit spam in late game. I'm not even mentioning Moria or Gundabad as well as not bad chances of having Invasion called on Caras Galadhon.

What really ticks me off with Lorien, and what ticks me off in general with this mod, is that AI friends who have your big enemy as their enemy as well, for example Khazad-Dun being enemies with Dol Goldur, seem to be coded to not really want to fight that enemy. I've tried Lorien a few times, and I just got sick of Khazad-Dun letting them walk through Erui (I don't take Erui I rush for Edrichairn, Rocheburg AND Fangorn Camp) without contesting them. They even move superior armies AWAY from inferior Dol Guldor stacks. Wood Elves are the same. They just sit there. And the Unification mechanic is not worth as by that time the AI Wood Elves, who don't suffer from lack of money as no AI does, has pumped up thousands of gold worth of units that it did nothing with, leaving you tens of thousands in debt, but because you were the only one fighting Dol Guldor, Dol Guldor still outnumbers you and you can't bring what should be an overwhelming force together. tldr; the AI rolls over for itself to create an artificial feel of "difficulty" for the human player. It's cheap and I don't like it. The only two AI pairs I ever see actually acting as if they are at war with each other are Rohan and Isengard, and Gondor and Mordor (and frequently Gondor leaves Cair Andros undermanned and let's Mordor hold it, as well as BOTH East AND West Ostgiliath). Sometimes Erebor and Gundabad. That's really it. And I disagree that you have options and breathing room. Precisely BECAUSE no one else takes Dol Guldor seriously, you can't really move out to expand past your first few settlements or even think about assailing Amon Loc itself because as soon as you mobilize, Dol Guldor starts sneaking a force in to take whatever you may have left undermanned. So you have to pull back. Or else you'll just sacrifice a settlement to take another, which ends up changing nothing.

I had this issue, until I was able to drop a big chunk of cash in their lap. At that point they had been virtually wiped out by Dol Guldur though, which to be fair felt nice flavour wise, as I imagine their pride and desire for independence gave way for tactical expedience. Not that anyone cares, but to give myself even more of a flavourful experience (also cos I didnt have the resources to defend the already thourogly overrun region), I pulled out all of the heroes I could from the Mirkwood still standing, leaving a block of elites in a fortress to act as a rearguard distraction/guerilla army. The refugee armies linked up with my main forces and I've been having a blast with the mission to reclaim their homelands at the head of a joint elven taskforce. Goddamn I love this game.

I send one guy north to get Erui and everyone else south to get Rochburg and Tirith Anduin. Why? Because they will never get attacked, well, Rochburg might by Saruman, but you can just peacefully develop them largely focusing on cash. It is totally worth rushing them.

Still not sure what I think about the choice mechanic that prevents many factions from accessing their full roster in a single playthrough. Regardless of that, The Lorien/Mirkwood choice is 1 of the better ones Imho as it's a legitimate dilemma, unlike say Dunedain where one choice(United Kingdom) is vastly superior to the other. What makes the Lorien/Mirkwood choice good is that unification is always strong(free pretty well developed cities and all the generals, the units matter less but are still nice) but rather mediocre roster additions(nice to have but nothing amazing). Whereas the alternative isn't too shabby either with a pretty great special building and legitimate powerhouse units you can't get otherwise. I wish you would get more than just that 1 powerhouse unit but that unit is so strong it's still significant enough all on its own.

You don't believe the campain I had with Lorien... my 2nd try at V5 and Dol guldor captured Thrandul's hall and killed him by like turn 20! They also killed Legolas. they caped Dale's capital also :/ and it took me 110 TURNS to destroy them and fix every one's mess! anyways, now I have a rejected alliance with 3 cities to make Berio ee ungleyeth so overall I'm happy. Oh and Dorwinion and Dale also died and now I have to deal with Ruhns who are attacking erebor and my vast lands in the south. also the snow orcs... the only surprising upside was Rohan who for the 1st time in any version and campaign managed to limit Isengard to mostly Isengard and I got that one too. On the plus side Dol amroth the blue guys in the south destroyed everyone and nearly reached Ruhn by now :) Time for Mordor now. and shame, we lost Elrond too. So I feel like I'm the only Elf alive :(

Its to reflect the thickness of the forests. No need to be horse lords when you can barely get your horses up to a trot with these trees in the way. Big cats sit in trees, hard to run full speed while dodging trunks. 😅 so that's why. Sorry guy

I modded my game to add galadriel as the faction leader. cuz fck the devs who think women dont deserve to be in the game. and yes multiple devs literally said this, with discord moderators making extremely offensive comments and lots of people chiming in with anti-gay rhetoric as well, saying the family tree might imply some gayness if we let women be generals and we CANT allow THAT (bc the family trees are totally legit and not lore-breaking at all: oh hi eomer.) yeah, who cares about arwen, eowyn, galadriel, or lothiriel, lets make up some more noname male generals for every single faction and only cry about lore when non white males exist vent over :P thx for the overview.

She was not a General.
@Mandos- Жыл бұрын
@MB-rt3ck Well, we don't know. She and her husband were described as leaders first on the Eriador side before being invited over to Lorien, keeping the country safe on both sides of the mountains. So she may have been a general with the same probability as her husband. Her role in events got bigger the more Tolkien wrote and he clearly considered her a strong leader of her people. I was also wondering why the development team missed the unique opportunity to include a female general in the mod. She is one of the most interesting characters in the lore and the mod clearly goes beyond Tolkien's writing where it is convenient for immersion and beneficial for playability. So why not include a well known and loved character in a more important role than an ancillary?
