Cayde's story was deep, if you Dont know the lore, Cayde was indebted to Clovis bray, who gave him the opportunity to pay his debt by becoming an exo when he was human during the golden age. Cayde Accepted and became an Exo, and started keeping a Journal to remember who he was, where he's been and so on because what he was doing for Clovis Bray was classified and memory wipes on Exo's was common(shady) practice by CB. Cayde also recorded the collapse in his journal, one of the only accounts to survive. And This lore is just the tip, Go watch MyNameIsByf or Myelin games for a better recap of Cayde
