I lost over $80k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. It took me over two years of being in the market, I'm really grateful I found one source to recover my money, at least $10k profits weekly. Thanks Veronica Hoy

If I may make a suggestion, your yield on cost line graph I added a second line to show the current dividend yield of the stock just to compare my yield on cost versus the current dividend yield , which shows a really nice comparison. I love to see it right off my spreadsheet.

Hi Eli, Thanks for the videos! I haven't seen you mention in any of your videos what account structure you are using for your dividend portfolio strategy. Are you just using a cash secured brokerage account or perhaps you have a Roth or Traditional IRA in the mix? Perhaps a mix of both? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on account setups and how you might allocate to different tax advantaged accounts? Thx, again.

I've made some videos discussing taxes (and am working on another one), but I need to make one on how to determine if/when to utilize tax advantaged accounts. Taxes depend on many variables like income, account, and location. This video is a good place to start: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5rLdKudZ7mWqNEsi=B7wG8QoiQSSUFVYv

Depends on his tax bracket based on his earned income or taxable income. As a general idea I’d figure at least 30% of the dividends would need to be paid out as taxes. That’s a huge generalization but it’s close enough to have an idea.

his biggest investment is schd which pays qualified dividends. While my portfolio is much smaller and my income smaller, at least personally my schd taxes remained qualified for the year while my actual taxed dividends were covered by my deductions. it really depends on situation

Whenever talking finance you always talk pre tax. This is because everyone’s tax liabilities are different. If I earn 100k and pay 20k tax but have many negative geared assets I could write off the entire 20k and my earnings would be 100k. You on the other hand could earn 100k and pay 20k tax but have no write offs/deductions so your pay is 80k…. But reality is both earn 100k. It creates an equal playing field.

I have looked at the entire situation. I have decided to invest in Costco heavily, and then at a certain point, switch over the gains to a dividend etf. 2000 per month into Costco, after 30 years is 28 million. 2000 per month into SCHD, after 30 years is 10 million.
@t0bakken1337
@t0bakken1337 3 күн бұрын
1 bad year at costco and you lose everything. 1 bad year at SCHD and it won't matter a thing, since it gets revised every year and contains multiple companies in every sector of the trade. So yea, the greater the risk the bigger the reward. Just like when you odds or play the casino.
@StuartHollingsead
@StuartHollingsead 2 күн бұрын
@@t0bakken1337 I find it difficult to believe that Costco can fail that hard. They have a large runway into the global market. Enough to last my required 20 years. 28 million vs 10 million is no small thing at 30 years investing. Your phrase of "one bad year and you lose everything" is not correct. The stock bounces back. The worst possible years were covid, and Costco did just fine. The disaster that you describe that would end Costco would also end civilization.
@t0bakken1337
@t0bakken1337 2 күн бұрын
@@StuartHollingseadfirst of all, i didn’t describe anything i’m telling you risk vs reward. “Covid was the worst possible period” “Costco runs deep into world trade” So, currently the US president is about to start a tariff trade war. That basically hurts the entire “costco runs deep into world trade”-thing. Secondly he threats Denmark and Gaza, i’m pretty sure war is going to hurt a lot more than covid. So no, covid is not the “worst possible period”, when your timeline is 30 years, you have to look 30 years into the future. Finally i have nothing againt costco as a stock, it’s the “all the eggs in same basket”, that is the issue. But if you feel like it, go ahead. Gamble everything on a 30year basis, with next to no insurance. As you say, if it pays off its 30 million, but if it doesn’t, i’m sure you look after those SCHD dividends and dream you “only” went for 10 millions.

In a nutshell JEPI is for the now and does not align with future growing of dividends. If you already have your nest egg, older, and seek income without the need for growth JEPI may have a slot in your portfolio. Hope that helps.
