I am starting collage in January. I been using the new "learning dashboard" for math. Its ridiculous how I know some algebra 1 & 2 stuff yet I didn't know how to use division. My life goal is to become a teacher and teach people better then my teachers taught me. I am studying hard on khanacademy... So wish me luck =)

thanks a ton Sir!!!I'm now (almost 50 y o) and quite have forgotten the basics . .now I'm helping my 10 y o with her maths.Here in Europe/Italy they use different division symbol (colon : to divide) and another form like a tee, instead of a symbol of square root, for division. But the basic principle is the same.GOD BLESS Tremendously sir!

I like that you explained that we want to multiply the number by ten enough times to make it a whole number. However this does not shift the decimal to the right - it shifts the numbers to the left. You might say something like that is purely a matter of relativity but it does affect the way kids conceptualize how numbers work.

You are awesome! Thank you! The funny thing is that where I went to school, the digit on the left side was to be divided by the digit on the right side. So what you show in the video first looked for me as 0.25 divided by 1.03075 and it made no sense at all. Then I figured out that the divident goes to the right and divisor goes to the left. So the way of putting it is reversed from what I used to do obviously a long time ago in a galaxy far far away... Thank you Sal and good luck everyone!
