I can’t say enough good things about dianthus. Divide and share! 🌸About three years ago I used some in my containers on our patio. At the end of the season they were still alive so I got permission to plant them in a sheltered place in a neighbor’s yard. Now she has a nice multicolored dianthus border and so does another neighbor. Glad to know the tip about cuttings. I should try that when I cut them back a bit to encourage more blooms. Hooray! Thanks!

I'm glad that you like them as much as we do. They are just a good all around flower. And they seem to do very well in our area.

Yes, dianthus are great flowers. I think they’re originally from Ephesus. I like to think that Paul the Apostle saw them when he stayed there. My🌻sunflower seedlings are growing well in a bare patch by the neighbor dumpster. Just planted the milkweed seedlings 🌱 yesterday. I put them by some yarrow and lantana. Have a great day!

Hi again Deb! I'm glad that you found my channel too :) I try to do at least one video a week, and sometimes two if I can find time to do the editing. I have a bunch of clips shot, so I should have enough material to post even through the fall and winter months. Thanks again!😀

Last year Walmart was selling a 6 pack of these as annuals. I am just starting to garden and bought them not knowing the difference. I put them around my patio. This winter they stayed green here in Nebraska under snow. The contractors laid their ladders over them.This spring they came back so early and my neighbors are so jealous :) Mine are a deep red/pink and were covered with flowers by April. I can't wait to spread them around like you have. But I have questions for you. Divide only in the spring? Do you use a rooting compound? Thanks for sharing your video and educating me!
@MidwestGardener
@MidwestGardener 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for the great comment. I divide in the spring, because the weather is much milder and it usually rains enough to keep the ground moist. If you are taking divisions with roots, you won't need rooting compound. Rooting cuttings with now roots usually works best with rooting compound, but sometimes will work without, as long as the ground stays moist till they root. Hope this helps a little. I'm really glad to hear that you love them like we do!

Can I divide them in early fall?
@MidwestGardener
@MidwestGardener 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Laura. They are yours, so you can try it if you want, but I would only do mine in the early spring. Then they are actively growing and usually have some spring rains to help them along.
