Man , i literally searched for so long about this. When i learnt about octaves through some other source, i realised that the P,D,N notes i play are not sounding same as the rest. I know only how to play sargam at this point. But i never was able to confirm. Now it is clear that im playing 3 notes in lower octave and remaining in middle Thankyou sooo much

Very interesting and logical, Thank You! Very pleasant production as well. Learning bansuri in Europe is challenging since it is hard to find good learning material or a teacher. Your contribution lets Indian music flow into the western world! Bansuri gives a pleasant relief from stress and elevates the spirit, more people should discover this magnificent instrument.

Thx Sir! It makes so much more sense to see it with black white keys. To learn the scales. And the reason it starts with A is: back in the days, celestian music from the catholic monks were singing/playing in minor scale. So all the white keys on piano, starting from A. For some reason now we play lots of music in mayor, so the white keys are easiest, thats why many music is in c. Another explanation says, that running water, from a stream. Lake or ocean, sounds or reminds the composer on a C. Thank you🙏🏾

Very informative video! May I point out a few corrections? At time 13:48, in the image of saptaks, (1) shudh R is missing in all spataks. (2) komal g is mentioned after shudh G - like Gg, instead of gG. Apologies if I am wrong.

No one even taught me this at school!! ...but lost me at the Indian bit...IDK...I struggle with remembering what letter is before F most the time let alone 'converting' the Sa's and 'Doh Rai Me' thing (we weren't taught that at school either!) into letters, which mean notes really. You may as well call them sugar, banana, table, red, blue and pink...in fact, maybe I'll try that as it seems WAY easier!! Does anyone else have trouble with this or is it just my brain? I feel like I'm translating it 4 times into different languages at each stage!! As for musical notes in written form... aghhh. Lol. Now I have to count the lines too! 😳🙄 not sure if I'm autistic or something. I match notes singing. Anyways, thank you so much for your video and explanation with examples. You explain it clearly and nice to look at too ;)

Hi Bansuri. I would like to use your video and quote you, in my reaction video, to create a video which I will share with some relatives and countrymen (music theory is like rocket science to them). I use your video because you have explained all the concepts so beautifully. I do a reaction video so that I further demonstrate to them the concepts with my flutes and guitar (I am also learning). Then in the end, I will give them some advice regarding the next step if they wanna learn guitar. I will also share it with you. Also, I will not use all parts because some of the technical terms yo use are not English, such as Sargam -Swar -Sudh Swar, Komal Swar, Teevra Swar -Saptaks
