Legit, I read and watch all kinds of D&D supplement stuff but Bob is where it's at. It always starts and stops with Bob. I'll usually watch Bob first read and watch other stuff and come back to Bob and alter what I need to from there. Great guide.

I probably should have something to plug since I'm getting such a nice shout-out, so if anyone is interested in my ideas then you can check out my Twitter (same name) where I usually get caught up in some kind of D&D/TTRPG related topic of conversation. Or you can as always catch me in the comments, at least until I eventually start producing my own content. At which point I'll probably be too busy to make such lengthy responses. 😅

Devine contention is a unique 5e module. It is the only one I have seen so far where the players have to face two fairly large armies at once. I am happy to see you doing well and I am 100% sure your channel with get over 10k subs! Your channel deserves wayy more attension than it already has and keep up the amazing work! I don't have a petreon subscription yet, but I am sure I will be able to join withing the end pf this month!

Great DM guides for DoIP. Invaluable advice for new DMs like me. Any plans of making a new series?

Thanks again Bob! These have been so helpful! As a first-time DM I have found myself making up a whole bunch of stuff to fill in the gaps left in some of all of these adventures. I took your advice/tip from a previous video and made Cryovane a mother. The Myrkul cultists were then tied in by wanting to get the dragon egg in hopes of having a vessel for Ebondeath.

There is an entire series of modules on DM's Guild about Leilon and they are all PWYW. Of course they do not match up with what's in these three official modules, but they can be mined for extra encounters or alternatives (for instance, Thalivar's tower has its top levels floating above the rest and is inhabited by a totally different iconic D&D monster). In these modules, there are also dead and living dragons and spirits, and the cult behind lots of nefariousness is... The Cult Of The Dragon! Which makes a lot of sense seeing they trying to resurrect dead dragons, and ties everything together quite nicely. And you could then spin off into either the later parts of Tyranny of Dragons or try to add on the 5e conversion of the classic Red Hand of Doom module which has a similar plot but is done much, much better.

I'm running DOIP now. One of my players decided he didn't want to play his Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer after a couple of sessions (this was his first game ever) so I tweaked it so that he was actually playing host to the weakened spirit of Ebondeath and had it burn itself out of him and leave him without magic (I let him change the character in to a Barbarian and played it so that the dragon spirit had been suppressing his physicality). I staged a whole chase and challenge encounter around it and had the other PCs see the fiery spirit in the shape of a dragon burst out of him. I also had the players take some mysterious fire damage which did not leave a burn mark but will EVENTUALLY turn in to a mark of Myrkul. This was just after they'd finished the 3rd intro quest and were on the way back to Phandalin. Also took the suggestion for Tower of Storms for the party to find a letter from Uluran Mortus. So 5 sessions in, unbeknownst to the party, the 2 big bads of the campaign are set up. This series has been so useful in my long term planning for my campaign. Thanks Bob!

Hey Bob. First thing first, thank you for the channel and the content you put out. DoIP was my fist time DMing and all your vids helped massively! I'm now running this trilogy (with some changes as some of it didn't flow well in my campaign). The one thing I'm struggling with is why the two different cult leaders what the Ruinstone. I've read the modules a few time and I'm either missing their main motivation, or it's not clearly in there. Is it just for power, or is there something else underlying I've missed? Any ideas from your point of view?
@BobWorldBuilder3 жыл бұрын
Hey Ben, happy to help! I'm pretty sure there's a single line about Ularan Mortus's motive to get the stone because I was just talking about this with a patron who was able to cite something brief, but idk which adventure it was in. As for Fherelai Stormsworn, I really don't recall. The good news is this leaves some room for you to bring in your own evil plans for them!

@Joellivin4 жыл бұрын
One of the main things these add on adventures lacks is a big bad, sure there are bad guys that are pulling the strings and eventually they encounter, but in my opinion it would hook them more to have one or two main bad guys they encounter early and are the main driving force of evil. Instead it's just vauge cult leaders.
@BobWorldBuilder4 жыл бұрын
That's a great point. There are some lieutenant cult characters but they don't appear until the second adventure. It would be a better move to introduce them in the first, and make sure they stick around until at least the second if not the third
@Joellivin4 жыл бұрын
@@BobWorldBuilder agreed, I as the dm, didn't quite read ahead far enough to make these adjustments, however cryovain will for sure make a comeback as an undead dragon and I'll build off of that going forward after the adventures. They took his scull, and hung it on the wall of the tavern... But it was mysteriously stolen last time they were there. Haha
@karpmageddon41554 жыл бұрын
Ebondeath can easily be made into the BBEG of the whole campaign from start to finish if you choose to make them such using my tweaks. Turning the various cults into pawns of their grand plan to be reborn and once again cast their dark shadow across the Sword Coast. And the best part, they are only released because of the grave robbing players. So there is a lesson to be learned if the players manage to survive the final encounter.
@Joellivin4 жыл бұрын
@@karpmageddon4155 for sure, I've read some of your comments before and agree completely, I'm in the middle of storm lord's wraith and trying to write in ebondeath now so they start to see that as the big bad and then I'll write my own stuff after the add ons are done to get my players to level 20, hopefully culminating in a battle with a giant undead dragon and his minions
@IamsTokiWartooth4 жыл бұрын
I always just make my own Bigbad in every adventure I run. Sometimes I'll make one for each night, and it might not even make an appearance, but is there egging on some kind of mischief. Like I Made one redbrand in the sleeping giant a LT (veteran) and when she got beat down she called the others off. All then went to the jail and were questioned. Now the players had a choice of having to leave someone to guard them !
