The best concert ever! For 1982-83, this was some elaborate stuff. What you don`t see on any recorded version of a Bette Midler concert is the kibbitz she does for about 5 or 10 minutes here and there to show relevance to the town she`s performing in. And this arrangement is sort of choppy to the true show. I saw this show twice. Once at Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan. Later, at Saratoga Performing Arts Center Upstate New York. Bette played for over 4 hours with one 30 minute intermission. This was all before Disney and it`s movies. But Bette was already very much appreciated. "A National Treasure Chest". :)

@@thaddeusbanks-t4t There is a clip from that tour on here live from Boston. Type in "Bette Midler Art or Bust Boston. It`s 41 years old. The sound and video aren`t the best but it`s true to form.

I found the video tape of this and I bought it. But I regret throwing out my mother's video player. Now I need one to watch this concert 😢

I was at both of her concerts at Northrup Auditorium in Minneapolis where this show was filmed over two nights. I was an usher and on the second night I was assigned backstage and watched the show from the wings. One of the best nights of my life. Fabulous show.

Thank you SO MUCH for posting this!!!! I first saw it (and recorded it on VHS) on a PBS channel back in, oh, the mid-1980s? I loved it, and everyone I showed it to loved it. It's Bette Midler at her best-- before she started taking herself too seriously and became just another hack.

Much prefer the bawdy, clever, satirical Bette from the late 70s early 80s to the more recent mainstream Vegas Bette.

She was still bawdy and cleverly outrageous in Vegas.

@@Gemmarose9012 I’m sure, but do you think that performers who become mainstream and safe enough to perform in Vegas completely retain that dangerous edge that gave them their original cult following? It’s like comparing the early very clever satirical material of Sacha Baron Cohen when he was an edgy comedian in the UK with the dreadfully predictable stereotype-mining rubbish he produced when he became mainstream Hollywood box-office.

@@davidlondon9696Yes I do actually since I’ve seen the show in Vegas and it was almost exactly the same. Brought the house down. She even thanked the audience for laughing at her same raunchy jokes for 40 years.
