Diving the ship wreck is the most interesting yet

Glad you like it Bill. I used to really love wreck diving but now I'm more interested in the weird things I find on reefs and looking for the 10 or so of my main 'target' species such as octopus, turtles, eels, sharks, rays, seahorses, etc. Now if it had some of those living in and around it, I would have enjoyed it more- especially if there were sharks cruising around it.

Oh wow how exciting hauntingly beautiful,so strange to see something that wouldn't be in the sea .What an incredible dive it has a whole new purpose now.

The story I heard was that it was originally going to be sunk in deep water, at about 300 feet for an artificial reef but it ended up being sunk in about 95 feet. I didn't go down to the sand level but went to 86 feet. It is rather well encrusted with coral growth. I agree with you in that I have always found wrecks to have a rather haunting quality to them. Depending on the visibility of the water, you are kicking along and slowly a shadow appears and then slowly takes form as the boat.

Thank you. Watching it back, I felt like I moved too quickly and some of the panning of the camera should have moved really slowly to get a good look at the corals. Thanks so much for watching!

Is it called "Salvager wreck" because the ship was once used to salvage sunken ships? That has now sunk itself? If that is the case, that would quite an ironic twist :D Wonderful footage, once again!

Hey! You would think but, it is actually a ship that laid cable on the sea floor. I don't know how it got that name but it does indeed sound like it was used to salvage sunken boats. The story I heard was that it was to be sunk in about 300 feet of water but while they were waiting to do it, it sat at the dock and would keep on taking on water and be sinking and they had to keep raising in up and when they were towing it out to where it should have been sunk, the captain said screw this and just sunk it in about 95 feet of water. Go figure!

Hey, I just looked it up and other places refer to it as the 'Cayman Salvage Master' so I changed the title. I also read it was a mine-layer for the US Army.

Indeed and it made me wonder what type they were and why other fish weren't gobbling them down!
