Diving Portsea Hole - 14 Mar 2021

A quick trip back to Portsea Hole, in Port Phillip Bay, Victoria.
It was rather busy, with four dive boats visiting at the same time.
Depth - 12 -30 metres. Water temp 18 deg C.

Filmed in 4K on a GoPro (with a PolarPro switchblade for the close ups) and a Mavic Air drone.

Cheers Colin, I needed 7 mins of calming down with serene views of sea life and amazing scenery....Such a nice change to just seeing the plain surface from the pier, much appreciated...!!! ...( I say calming down from that first scene showing what's become of the beautiful beach I loved to visit nearly every summer, just gone forever for a few more $$$$$ )

Thanks Robert. I remember the old Portsea front beach very well. So sad to see it vanish not long after the bay dredging. Coincidence? Probably not...

nice vid. awesome place... 3:55 can in the reef. hope someone grabs it.... i grew up in Geelong. loved the bays for great shallow water snorkeling.... the ocean side of Portsea just west of Cheviot Beach is a sensational snorkel/dive when conditions suit. definitely not for beginners. we would come by boat from Queenscliff out the rip and anchor off the rock shelves and snorkel in. one day was perfect, flat and no swell, with ? 25 to 50m visibility in 5 to 10m of water.... sadly there was no such thing as a gopro in the 1970's/80's.. the dives inside and outside the bay in that Portsea region are so awesome.... if you are into Google Earth then check out west of Cheviot Beach on 04/2019... visibility was that good.... crystal like wow.

Nice video, thank you. What are the types of Leatherjackets at 4:00 and 6:01? Do they have types or are just known as Leatherjackets?
