I went down to the springs to see the manatees MANY years ago. Back in 1986. (you were just a glint of light in your daddy's eye then LOL) We did find the cold water....my legs almost locked up trying to stay down too long! Young and dumb on a long weekend when I was in the USAF. We went went to the keys for the lobster march. 5 guys went down that weekend and only caught one bug. LOL But many 12 oz Budweiser fish lost their lives that weekend. Yep, young and dumb!

Thanks again, keep the dream alive.

Not a Floridian, so I wonder how you feel safe in these waters, that you won't meet up with any gators. I've only visited Cape Canaveral and there were hundreds of them there..... Are the manatees proof of safety? We had a Manatee exhibit @ Sea World a long time back and they were the best thing to see. They were brought to San Diego for rehab because of propeller injuries. I noticed some of the ones you swam with, had propeller scarring. Great videos Kelly!! Sometimes you pan a bit too fast for the camera but your footage is just great!! Thanks!!

Wildlife Conservation Society will be impressed if they saw that on KZbin Kelly Young diving with manatees, which are the cousin of the elephant, herbivore for eating plants, & vulnerably endangered due to animal cruelty, habitat demolition, human objects, & poaching. This is why manatees are important to marine life in animal history. To help manatees for future generations to come just like Kelly Young scuba dive with manatees & other glorious marine life, donate to Wildlife Conservation Society at 2300 Southern Blvd in Bronx, NY 10460.

@@IslandKey Thanks. Really enjoy your videos. Snook in the Gulf north of Clearwater are a fairly recent phenomenon as the Gulf water temp gets too low for them to survive during winter months. Like the manatees they have learned that the many spring fed rivers and creeks in North Florida provide the warm water they need to survive winter this far north. Our many springs provide water that is a constant 72 degrees F year round. BTW, Ichetuckenee is pronounced "ITCH eee TUCK neee'." It means "beaver pond."
