Usually don't comment on videos, but got into Divinity 2 in a big way during lockdown and stumbled across this series. I'm almost done with act 3, but this guide is absolutely top quality. Fully intend to replay the game after I'm done, and I'm gonna use these videos and the quality information in them to go through this game with a fine-tooth comb. Great job man 👍

From all the divinity 2 videos I have watched throughout the week, this one has taught me the most, not because of the builds you are going but because of all the little things you do. How you navigate and act during a trade, how you prepare before you battle, how you sneakily steal items and how you approach NPCs you want to steal from, how you engage battles and why you focus which enemy first, how you decide your item setup and when you consider using items mid-fight, how you save often

2:49:19 you probably know it, but I'll still say that you can get even more exp here. For this you need to start dialogue with Withermoore with that character who doesn't have his soul jar, say you wanna keep the jar and get 1400 xp but do not end the dialogue. Then select the character with the jar, put it on the ground and destroy. This way you get another 1400 xp. Thus you get 2800 xp instead of 1600 xp which you get if you fight Withermoore and destroy the jar.

Chicken Claw combined with Rupture Tendant, is still a very powerful combination, using those 4 AP for it, that does damage for two full turns, the more they move, the more they take damage. It is worth it in my opinion.
@Manithro4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it does fine damage overtime, but it is still single target, and you don't want to bank on dealing damage over time. Up front damage is infinitely more effective than overtime damage. Think about it with summons. If you consider how much damage an incarnate can do in 10 turns, it's ridiculously AP efficient, but killing quickly is King.

My problem with the ruptured chixken combo, is they dont move. Hitting anyone with ruptured tendons usually results in them standing still no matter what.

This is nice, preparing to beat the game on honour tactician myself, alrdy beat it in Classic several times, discovered some nice combos yet still learning new ones. I prefer to have at least 1 Undead character in the party (obviously Fane, extra turn is just free real estate) for free lockpiciking and walking trough poison traps/areas (deathfog immunity is just a surplus, usually not a concern) and the occasional cheese with Play Dead if things go south.

While it’s true you may not need much memory you can get very powerful with just a couple of attacks it’s likely you will have more fun with the combat if you have a wide variety of skills to use. You also have to consider the cooldown time it’s probably a good idea to have a few additional skills to use while your waiting for your go to moves to come back.

I always kill Sir Lora. its very funny when you have pet pal and you can hear him speak as you try to kill him on the beach. "run querkus, our shield has gone mad!" hehe. it is still worth recruiting Ifan when you escape the fort, you get a really nice crossbow from the undead merchant out in the swamp if you have him there. You can recruit everyone you want at level 1, but this means skipping out on lots of XP on the boat, but if you are not using the respec mirror addon that gives you a respec mirror at the waypoint on the beach, you will want to skip all the xP on the boat and recruit what you want at level 1, then start your farming run.
@jamiejackson88864 жыл бұрын
You can get all companions except Ifan at lvl 1 if you just run through the ship and go striagjy to wendigo and when you get to the lifeboat just leave without going back for the others, when you land on fort joy you can go pick up red Prince and Fane and if you want Sebille and Loshe you go up the ladder to the right of where Dallis is but MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT BEGIN ALEXANDER AND DALLIS DIALOG! Climb the ladder to their right and avoid the gambling table and there you are, inside fort joy at lvl 1

@Manithro4 жыл бұрын
1. In general, as I'm sure you've seen from this playthrough, damage output invalidates survivability. Not to mention that invisibility also invalidates most other survivability. So in reality an elf is still more survivable than beast because they have higher damage output. And as far as hitting your own characters, there's really no situation where that should happen and past level 9 you have nether swap available to teleport your melee out and another enemy in. Since it's turn based, you have all the time needed to pinpoint aoes to hit only the enemies. Really the only class that runs into that issue is necromancer because corpses are less flexible to position, but if you're accidently gonna kill your own melees with corpse explosion, chances are all the enemies are dead too anyways. 2. I wouldn't add necro to this comp. It would be a 3rd INT character. imgur.com/a/8sDypYW

Is Summoner worth using to force enemies to waste attacks (plus getting extra damage)? I just started playing my first playthrough and assumed that AI manipulation was a good way to generate faux survivability without having to build constitution or anything.
@Manithro3 жыл бұрын
Not really. As far as that strategy is concerned, you spend AP on the summon to get the enemy to waste AP, and summons are not that tanky. Also it's preferable to just kill enemies outright or crowd control them to prevent then taking actions.
@majorlouis9562 жыл бұрын
Hi do u think a ranger with summoning build or pure ranger , wayfair build thks
@Manithro2 жыл бұрын
Pure builds (meaning builds that focus on a single method of dealing damage, not just one school of skills) always trump mixed builds in effectiveness. Ranger builds you see me always use trump summoner combo or wayfarer type builds.

I did a coop tactician run a couple years back with a friend. we went lone wolves and he used a "tank" build where he used shield bash and another ability (sorry dont know its name from memory) where he slams down on an anvil and nukes enemies nearby based on his defensive stafs. Would you say a build with this playstyle in mind is okay for a niche/for fun playthrough for someone who finds tactician and honour mode too easy without handicapping myself so much that the game is unplayable? Regardless love the video.
@Manithro4 жыл бұрын
We did a short run with that build. It is incredibly painful and was nerfed, but bouncing shield is still ok. Works fine in a party but will be out DPSed by basically anything.
@mikelsmith68034 жыл бұрын
Playing first time this days after seei g some of your videos. I am using Lohse as a summoner rangerish (I barely use any ranger skills but she has a bow). I realy like the incarnate but after summoning him she doesn't do much. I wonder if I am doing something wrong or that is how the class is played. Also I like this guide so I am going to follow the team comp. Is there a way to keep my weird summoner ranger tho?
@Manithro4 жыл бұрын
Summoner is definitely one of the weakest builds in the game. It can work, just don't expect it to put up big numbers outside of a few specific setups. You can keep it in if you'd like, it will just preform worse than the rest of the party. The problem is just that summons don't scale very well and if you are putting 10 points in Summoning, that's 10 less points in a damage stat for your ranger (in this example).
@TheBlackLightMan4 жыл бұрын
What about having Fane? Is undead a bad race in general to play?
@Manithro4 жыл бұрын
Fane still gets the Ingenious talent from human, which is good, and gets Time Warp. So he is essentially the best pick for anything besides elf.
@TheBlackLightMan4 жыл бұрын
@@Manithro one more question: the harder character for me to start is the necromancer. What would you recommend doing with starting skills and skills to achieve in fort joy?
@Manithro4 жыл бұрын
@@TheBlackLightMan Check out the meta run I am currently doing and I spec a necro in Act 1.
@DraconiusDragora4 жыл бұрын
Basically, Fane is the strongest character in the game, even stronger than Elves. First his Time Warp allows him to have 2 turns in one go, so that doubles his AP usage and damage output. Second, he can be in Elf Form to get the same special stab self for 10% more damage + AP to use. When it comes to Necromancers, they can be difficult to use in the start, since you require to understand their abilities for full effect. Where other "classes" is more straight forward with how they work (Like a pyromancer does damage with fire.) You can find pretty nice Necromancer builds that use Fane for it. And his perk of Ingenious is just the icing on the cake of dealing even more damage. Hope it helps, and good hunting!
@kalmkrew3 жыл бұрын
You need to do some class guides. You are an expert.
@DraconiusDragora4 жыл бұрын
One of the biggest reasons why the Restoration skill is pretty bad, is the low healing rate it has. Even before the nerf to Lonewolf with 20 in Hydro, the healing was pretty lack luster, and the only reason it was good for was to remove certain debuffs, with the healing as a big extra point. However it used to be extremely good at killing undead, or people with Decaying on them, I haven't tried it in the DE version yet, so maybe it still will make the insane numbers for no apparent reason XD

Is playing Solo with Lone Wolf on tactic Mode harder than in a 4 Man Group?
@Manithro4 жыл бұрын
In my personal opinion, 4-man with glass cannon is the easiest way to play the game and also the strongest party you can have. However solo lone wolf is the laziest way to play since there's less to micro manage and you get free stats so you can min max less.
@WeskerFoda4 жыл бұрын
i didn't get the point very well... So you mean rogues are kinda bad later on? This type of class is supposed to do the highest physical and single target damage in the game lol

@dawgyv724 жыл бұрын
@@Manithro I agree, thats exactly my point Manithro. I think the rate of which you organically learn the mechanics really gates the progression and enjoyment of the game. My first play-through was co-op and my friend and I shortly noticed how underwhelming the combat was due to the armor system. We had already invested several hours into the game and felt pretty bitter by the constant "wouldnt it be easier if we just did this instead....".
