@jozefmirkowicz1143 This version of Dixie was written to troll the South, even though the term didn't exist yet. Some Union Army units would have bands of free slaves sing this while marching through populated areas. This is not the earliest example of Americans taking a song to troll their enemies. Yankee Doodle was written to mock the Americans as dumb backward hicks. They knew that they took the song as a middle finger type move to the British.

Yes it was first used in 1813 by a business man who used US on his barrels of beef and when asked what US meant he said Uncle Sam

Dixie was a northern slam on the South...the original .. same thing for Yankee Doodle...it was just embraced
