I am so happy to have found this! Visiting Dixter in person is on my bucket list of places I must see before I depart this world. I’m praying the pandemic eases so I may continue my pursuit of visiting the greatest gardens on Earth in Great Britain! My gram was from Ireland and she spoke so often of the gardens she visited as a young girl traveling the Isles with her mum. Thank you so much for sharing! I appreciate your emotion as you entered the gardens and the feeling of home it ignited in you! That’s how one knows it’s a special place! 🙌💚🌿🌹🌳

Then I'm so happy that you've found it too. I so hope you get to visit Dixter. It's a place like nowhere else on earth. At one stage in 1991, my wife and I left Dixter for a six week jaunt looking at gardens. We saw 50 or so of the very best, then returned to Dixter. I was kind of nervous about how I'd find it, having seen all those others, and even at that front gate, where this video starts, I knew that this place had more heart, more spirit, more truth, more integrity, than anything else we'd seen

Thank you for sharing this. I love your emotion towards its beauty and the man who created it. Gardeners are passionate people and too many times they hide their love ....I don't know why lol. It's beautiful to see someone's love bloom.

Thanks Michelle, my returns to Dixter have been few and far between, so it's always a magical experience. I remember clearly my first return after working there for a summer. I went back for a few weeks three years later, and for the first 24 hours was as joy-filled as I've ever been. I feel so privileged to have found a passion that has led to so, so many moments, days, months - years! - of pleasure

It's always such a heart-wrenching joy to go back there. The big moment for me - the one I wait for, and take a few long breaths before enacting - is the stepping into the Great Hall. I can't begin to tell you how rich and poignant all those memories are for me

I have to agree about not taking photos. While there are times when they are appropriate, it is too easy to focus on getting the best shot and missing the moment.
