We built our own incubator here! With many quail eggs on there way I needed a bigger incubator, so in this diy build I took Terry from Coturnix Corners incubator build idea and modified and ran with it... not to bad :) Join us to build this "Made in America" Incubator Build :)

nice build for first time , I would of drilled smaller holes just big enough for the wires to fit snugged for the electrical box. but good idea to put the wires inside box for safety .

Watched this again, hope it's working well for you. Noticed when wiring Ink bird unit, as a general rule , "righty tighty, lefty loosy". You twisted the opposite way on the wires and wire nut. Hope they stay connected! BTW, pin one is LINE, not load.

I think the installation of the control is unnecessary. What is really important is the construction of the incubator, to see if it worked properly. One question, do the fans blow air over the lights?

Hadn't seen this til today. You mentioned last night on livestream that you needed to replace something. Fans perhaps? How did filter work out?

:). I had knocked the light socket in and a wire got severed because something had gotten pushed on top of it. The filter works pretty good to cut down on the fluff that goes everywhere I think stronger fans may be needed to really collect it though. Thanks for checking it out. It was really fun to build, I've learned allot since but still love this one best

Oh yes. There's a pencil sized hole in the front top side and one in the front bottom side that I covered with tape partially to help control the humidity. I do plan on doing an upgraded one this summer here :). Thanks for watching

Great video. Hey does your incubator cause a distinct smell due to the heat and the foam board? Mine does and I’m just a little worried it might hurt the chicks when they hatch.

It did at first but lost it. I don't seem to see any harm done at all, this incubator works best of the ones I have... you have got me thinking allot though, I'll ponder and experiment with this, thank you. And thanks for watching 😀

@@graftedbranchhomestead thank you so much. The smell from mine did finally dissipate :) After about 3-4 hours the smell was gone. I’m pretty confident all will be fine. I sure hope so because I have 200 plus bantam eggs in mine :) Thanks again for your response. Curious how this incubator has done.. I am in the process of making the two shelf one from Terry, however I am a long way off from using both shelves.

I works really well. He has good design. I did seal the door better, added a homemade humidifier and couple upgrades. Right now I'm trying out a few other incubating methods including no power as well as building a solar powered one :] I'll be touching on incubators on this week's quail Shack live Saturday and plan on doing another stand alone video soon hopefully. Did you use an egg rotator with this? If so, how did you route your power cord?

I did add an egg turner, shown in the first use of it. I had made a small notch along the bottom front edge to push the cord into, running out of the door. Hope helps :)

Sorry so long to reply. I made 2 holes one at the bottom and one at the top about a big as a pencil, then I put tape partially over them and adjusted, once they hatched I removed the tape so they could get some air
