I wired these but didnt wire indicators. Lights are working fine but outer halo one of the lights stays on when lights are switched off. Any idea why this is happening?

Are the scotch fittings dodgy? Not heard good reviews using them. Have a mini cooper 2000 and bought led headlights to fit

I was just wondering how you mounted these headlights as they have different fixing mounts to the mini ones? Also how have they held up over time so far?

Hi! The lights are held in place by the inner retaining rings and there are no specific mouting holes. These are standard size headlights and they fit in the original retaining rings without any issues. There are a few notches/protrusions behind the lights but they do fit the original headlight housings, so no modification (i.e. drilling/ filing down) was needed. One tiny thing that I had to do to make it work was to add foam tape around the perimeter of the headlight housings so that the lights will not wobble or vibrate within the retaining rings (since the headlights are a tiny bit slimmer than the original ones). Can I ask what happens to your drl rings when the hazard button is hit? When my drls are on and the hazards are switched the halos stay solid orange, but if I turn off drl lights the hazard lights will flash orange..

My DRL rings will turn orange when I switch on the hazards (same when I apply the turn signals). Within the DRL ring I think there’s a white part which is powered by the side light circuit and there’s an orange part that is powered by the turn sign circuit (as suggested in the video). I think these units are design such that when the orange part of the ring receives power, it also makes the white part dimmer so the ring appears to be turning orange.

Hello , just wondering if anyone can help , I've installed these on my 1994 mini , and the indicators / hazards stop working , I've rewired the connections to the fuse box , what fuse do you use for these headlights 10 or 15 ?

Hi Amber. Do you have a blown fuse? From my experience, the original 10A or 15A fuses should handle the additional amp draw from the LED indicators without any issues. When you say fuse box, I assume you’re referring to the fuse box (that houses four glass fuses) behind the brake master cylinder, as that’s where the fuse box is on pre 96 cars. I don’t think any of the fuses in the fuse box are for the indicators so I suggest you to check all the line fuses under the bonnet (near the passenger side firewall) as I remember one of those fuses are for the indicators (one for the radiator fan switch and one for the parking lights). Also check the fuse holders as they can melt over time due to the heat from the engine and that can result in a poor/bad fuse contact. Check the hazard light switch as well, as according to the wiring diagram, that’s where the power is coming from so better make sure it’s working properly!

@@amberbaines4839 yea the first click of the switch will turn on the halos. The second click will turn on the low beam as well.

The light is quite focused (not scattered) as you would expect from a typical led projector headlight.

Any plans to supercharge your mini ?

Planning to keep the powertrain as original as possible so that it'll pass the MOT without issues and I won't ruin the transmission which is quite pricy these days. The only mods I've made so far are the upgraded Bilstein shocks absorbers and the RC40 stainless steel exhaust, plus the LED headlights of course hehe... 😉
