I'm really getting into this now! What do you guys think of this faux fur cape?!? I can't wait for the weather to change so I can wear it. Dress it up with a pencil skirt, dress it down with a pair of jeans. So chic. I was inspired by the vintage fur cape from the 1970s I saw while thrifting. I'm obsessed!

Great with collar and of coarse lining... I would not wear anything unlined myself, before cutting out , I would make the front centre to edge so as not to cut, but leave about 2 inches as hem so lining will not show.... as for hooks, you can find 1cm or more in size hooks that are thread covered , they are much nicer than steel ones :)... When turning up hem on a circular item, make a running stitch by hand with a double thread all round ( preferably) do Not But thread from reel.... make this about 1 cm from the edge....... Then pin the hem all over and start gathering the running stitch until you have hem is in place so you won`t have to pleat it when sewing, more professional :)

you can always make a beautiful clasp or brooch ( in case of Brooches) just sew on each side a small Eye( eye from hooks and eyes :) ) so when attaching it just pin through both eyes and not tear the material :)

Def needed to hem around neck, arm holes, front opening and bottom. A light lining would make it less scratchy. I think Ill make one for my mom but with pockets and a hood.

Well, hmm... subscribed! Your design kicks ass! Forever 21 designers will fear losing their jobs if they see your videos, especially this one. C'mon they sell faux rabbit jackets/coats for 50.00 USD, and many people call it a bargain... meanwhile you, seemingly unimpressed, flip your hair over your shoulder and show them their own game. With the spare time coming up between semesters, not only will I try this but i'll take some extra time and TLC to flatter this cunning blue print with an orange hem/fringe and two button-snaps that appear to be functional tortoise-shell buttons. You are absolutely inspirational.

This is just like a circle skirt, and it would definitely need to be hemmed or edge finished. I would also want a lining. It looks great! I would think your dress would be covered with white stuff.

Wow Miss Kris - Love your video and the pattern. Exactly what I needed - a basic understanding of how to put it together. Love it! I have two old fur capes I'd like to convert as well as a piece of cashmere to play with. I hope you don't allow yourself to get bogged down by the nasty commenters here who are bored and therefore take pleasure in knit-picking etc., or those with no imagination and need the obvious spelled out to them or else they criticize, but forge ahead and keep on keepin on! Some tips about faux fur..... if you want it to look like real..... after you sew it in any pattern , be it coat, cape or whatever,, sit down and relax with the garment in question in hand and a needle and try and get out the fur that is stuck all aver in seams... It will look like a whole thing without anywhere sewn !!.. If making a fuax fur coat for kids.... line it with fleece in same colour for warmth,,,, as for the sleeves make them very long with a hem of about 6 inches.. so that they can wear it for 3/4 years :) in a row before growing out of them... the 6 inches hem sew with the machine like side seams and with needle do same thing to get out the fur stuck in sewing..... it would not even show and when wearing turn up the cuffs :)

The idea was good but the fabrication of it was so off. The bottom of the cape wasn't straight and the best part...the armholes weren't evenly spaced.

so many things wrong with this...Not using measurements to get an equal semi circle, not finishing the edges, guessing where the armholes should be, but most of all having no idea how to actually cut fake fur! :/

You should have measured for sleeve openings and finish all the raw edges. You could have also sewn the sides up to where you wanted sleeves.
