You just taught me a lot. Im going by Home Depot and pic up these pipes and glue and try to do this on my own. I've been waiting on a man to come by to install a new pump for me for 2 days now.

I dont know if you noticed, and to anyone watching. But you installed both of the unions on backward. The point of the union combo valves will be to shut water off and then disconnect the pipe going to the pump. In your current configuration, the union is before the valve / pool side of the valve. The union should be after the valve / pump, filter side. This way, when the valve is shut off, you can disconnect the union and remove the pipe after the valve. Just an observation hope this helps.

Yes, unfortunately I didn't realize this while installing lol. Thankfully I don't really need the valves to function once I disconnect the piping for wintering, as I drain the water below the skimmer, but this is definitely not true for all cases.

Nice. Thank you. Very new to all of this. Wish I had a list of names for all these pieces so we could try and do ours. 😅. We also have a permasalt filter that we need to work with.

Good video, glad to see shut offs at skimmer and return. My question is, why not union the inlet on the pump? Unless you didn’t have one on you I could understand, but you should always have a disconnect there for future maintenance.. same thing with the return, unless you’re able to turn it out of the multiport but seems like it’d hit the filter first..

The part of the pump where the water goes in is removable for maintenance, which is why I didn't use one.

This might be a stupid question but the hesitation I have to hard pipe my pool is because I thought water was going to come spewing out of the hose connects as soon as I’d disconnect. Did you have to drain your pool just under the skimmer box before you did this? I hope my concern makes sense!

I had a plug in the intake to ensure water would not flow out freely.
