From what I've read about backstops, like the nylon cloth, is you don't want it to be tight at the bottom or restricted, you want it to flap around when the arrow hits it. It will stop the arrow, but it won't break it.

As stated earlier....only connect at the top. If held taught an arrow may penetrate, or at least go deep enough to make it hard to remove. Loose can let a slower arrow bounce off.

Nice. I’m in town and running into the same problem . I’m good enough to hit the target every time but that Matt give u piece of mind thanks man !!
@ClarksOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s really all it is. Just a piece of mind knowing your arrow ain’t gonna go any farther.

Great idea! I learned how to patch vinyl siding after an arrow went straight through the target and hit the house. It was one of those cheap youth targets (was only shooting a 25# recurve at the time) and decided to go for one of the corner targets. Bad idea. All of the plastic stuffing was concentrated in the middle. I'll be building this at my new house this spring. Thank you!

No problem! I put a few in my shed before I built this lol

Awesome idea! Thanks for the list of materials as well. If I saw correctly in your video you have a kisser button on your string? Get in the habit of putting that on the corner of your lip. Will help with accuracy if you always have the same anchor point. Just a friendly suggestion from someone who has learned the expensive way loosing arrows. Focused on anchor points and a lot of my accuracy issues went away

Thanks for the video. I have lost about 8 arrows in the grass in my lawn. This is exactly what I needed to know. It is horse mat that I need. I’m going to just hang it from the top though, so it won’t penetrate much.

It helps alot for saving arrows lol

It doesn't always work but using a reflective wrap has helped mw find arrows (at night with a flashlight) i couldn't find in daylight. Its a much cheaper, not as good solution

That’s a good idea. My new house my brick garage is the back stop where I want to shoot so I’m looking into use something like this to help in case I have a stray arrow

Cool design, but I still wouldn’t chance it. Being that close to the neighbors home. Maybe even have it up against your house. Instead of shooting at someone else’s. Cool design though. I’ve been thinking of something very similar

P.S. Measure yardage by stepping full strides. Each stride approximatelt 1 yard ( 3 feet). You were shooting about 20 yards or less.

the bottom base is the annoying part is there any other way to simplify it without automatic woodcutting tools just getting pieces from home depot? also what do you do if a storm hits do you leave it out in the wind or rotate it sideways towards the wind?
@ClarksOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Most of the places you buy wood from have a saw that they can cut the wood for you but you would have to know your measurements. I also had to put an extra piece on the bottom because I did have it flip over on me on 40 mph winds but that was extreme winds. I did it because I had extra wood laying around.

Where did you score the rubber matt if I may ask?
@ClarksOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Bomgaars is where I got it super cheap. It’s called horse mat.
@southgeorgianole26682 жыл бұрын
How well has the horse mat held up? Have you had to replace it yet?
@ClarksOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Horse mat is still good and in good condition. All it has done is faded in color.

Forget about the neighbors place. See what’s happens when you accidentally put an arrow into that propane tank.

Too less energy in arrow to go thru, I suppose

Will the horse mat ruin the integrity of your arrows when you shoot into it?
@ClarksOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Well I don’t intentionally shoot into it but from 30 yards shooting the field point don’t go all the way through. Also I’ve shot closer with my bow and it didn’t seem to mess with arrow.

Just curious are you using a kisser button as a nose button cause that's what it looks like?
