This is part two of our backyard transformation where we showed how we built our swing pergolas and paver patio. If you haven't already seen, part one shows how we built rain curtain water feature.

With Rapid set or Quick set you should always put water in the hole first so all the mix gets wet, helps it to mix better, Not fill the hole to the top with water but say 1/4 to 1/2 way up, Then add quick set , Mix as you go in the hole with a bit of steel rod or shovel if it fits, When it looks to be getting dry add more water or more mix if its to wet and so on till full... Filling a hole with dry mix and adding water on top will never work (set properly) as the water will not get to the bottom (maybe the first 200mm if your lucky)... Sorry I honestly am not try to rant just trying to give advise... Your soil looks like it is clay and pretty solid so you should not have a problem with the posts moving.... Love your work came here from your rain curtain water feature video... keep it up 👍👍👍

I suspect they used rebar to mix it, but they cut that out of the video.

This is a great set up! I was looking for a simple pergola design that could hold a swing for2 people. Instead of building the swing, do you think this pergola can sustain a ready made swing ? What is the approximate cost of one pergola/ swing frame ? Do you have directions and a supplies list ? Let me know! Thanks 🙏🏼

Looks great. We are planning to build this over the weekend. Can you help with 2 questions. 1. Any reason for 4 poles for a swing ? Why you did not choose the A joint model or single beam post. 2. I hope you are enjoying the swing. Any other points to keep in mind ?
@HomeMadeDIYers3666 Жыл бұрын
Hi. All the best for your upcoming project. We went with 4 poles just because I liked that design better (no strong reasons 😄). Swings are keeping up well so far. We use them a lot..

Awesome job! What wood do you use for the post and the swing please?
@HomeMadeDIYers36662 жыл бұрын
Thanks. We used pressure treated wood..

In the end have you painted the wood to gray ?? Also have you removed the wood separators(don’t know what they are called as ) in between ??
@ronlaverdiere Жыл бұрын
Just ignore that little bit in the video where she sprayed the wood with grey paint - that was just a figment of your imagination.

Did you add artifical grass in the spaces between the pavers?
@HomeMadeDIYers36663 жыл бұрын
Hi. No we added basalt gravel ..

Question: how easy was it to remove the wood from cement molds (floor)
@ronlaverdiere Жыл бұрын
Relatively easy. Lots of left over scrap lumber though. Lots and lots. Now they need to make an outdoor stone fireplace to burn it all. Time for the next DIY yard project!

How did you remove the wood frame after completing the concrete patio?
@ronlaverdiere Жыл бұрын
With a drill (for the screws) and a rubber mallet, or carefully with a hammer.

If you can still remember the fun times you had as a child playing all sorts of outdoor games or fooling around in wood tree swings, you can try to share some of that enthusiasm with your child and show them that the great outdoors can provide fun times as well. This is a great project and I was looking forward to make my order soon at treeswingstore.com

Nope, well trained rabbit.

It looks impossible to dig that deep and in exact shape. May be an auger or something might have helped
