Watching your video brings back memories! Back in my late teens ( am now in my 60s!) these berets were all the rage and very stylish. My friends and I made them using the same methods as you! I did something similar and I used a thicker fabric and a silkier fabric and mine needed no fabric interlining. I found that the beret could be not a perfect circle and still make a great beret. I was using laundry mistake clothes rescued from the trash and that being able to cheat it and not have a perfect circle helped a lot. I cheated also when I had enough fabric to not cheat it so I could fancy cut so as to center a detail or to line up the seams exactly as I wanted.

It's quicker to use a Plate to make a Circle, love it though

As long as you have the right sized plate, you're okay. But my plates are *never* the correct size for my oversized head!

Well this is a great tutorial and if you fold the fabric in quarters when you mark and cut it, you shorten the process even more! I can see this in a wool fabric!
