DIY Best COMPOSTING TOILET!!! Rescuing an Old House

This is the best solution if you are OFF GRID. This composting toilet is very easy to build, we only use a bucket for the toilet. And we build a box around the bucket. In the future, I will also build a pee bucket so this toilet will be fully functional. I use sawdust or ash to fill over the poop in the toilet. So far I can't find any bad properties, it just doesn't stink if there is enough sawdust or ash.

A bit of advice for composting toilets. If you ever are sick and use it then don't dispose of the compost in the normal way, instead burn it to prevent any chance of the sickness spreading. I know the chances are slim but possible.

Nice work Robert. Love your toilet. I knew the trick with the handsaw. A carpenter teached me this. But I did not know the 45 degrees angle. Thank you for sharing. And now with souring gasprices I bought a camping shower like you had in the beginning. Works perfectly. I have an electric waterkettle so I boil mij water and pour this into the shower and with cold water this is a perfect amound of water at a good temperature. Trying to live ofgrid in a village to save money and energiecosts. Learning a lot from your channel.

Give "peeing in same bucket" another try. It's much simpler without urine diversion, and your pee is great compost and fertilizer. Consider building a urinal too. Every man should have one! Indoor or outdoor. Link it to your sewage or send it straight to a compost pile or a mulch basin (hole or basin filled with mulch) Also, does your black compost bin have enough air access? I didn't see any holes/pipes/whatever. Thanks for your vids, I'm on a similar journey.

I'm not going to do the urinal right now because this bathroom is only temporary. In time I will build a new bathroom and there will be a urinal. I need to test if poop and pee go in the same bucket or if it stinks. No, the barrel doesn't have holes yet. Thank you 👍🙂

Great work Robert - your bathroom is coming together nicely! Glad to see the solar working well - we have solar and still get about 10-20% even in the darkest and cloudier part of winter. Hopefully you won't have to use the generator very much at all!
