That little metal flap you left after sawing it open makes for a built in mini plate reverb. Sick.

I liked it without the muffling in it. That's a great sound!

Where did you place the drum mic ? Inside the shell, through the squared opening ?
@LAURISDIYCHANNELTV Жыл бұрын
Yes there’s a dynamin mic inside the shell! I think it was just a shure sm58
@LAURISDIYCHANNELTV Жыл бұрын
But there was a ribbon mic quite close in front of the kit as well, and it helps with low frequencies

Brother, I have a doubt. Does the bearing edge matters? Because, I have an idea to convert a paint tub into a tom, for which the bearing edge is not something like a 45 degree or other types which we see in snare drums
@LAURISDIYCHANNELTV4 ай бұрын
I dont think its going to be a big problem, ive built snares from sprinform pans and plywood platters for example and they work just fine! I believe the bearing edge just affects how long the drum heads rings out, but it’s quite a small difference and also a matter of taste

Great vid! But…, how did you get the stick to hit the drum with the pedal, I made one myself and can’t figure out how to use a pedal and when pushed down, push the stick to bang the drum?
@LAURISDIYCHANNELTV2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! 🌞 Oh yeah i didn’t mention it in the video, but i was just using a regular store bought kick drum pedal to play the drum. If you want to build one yourself you can search ”diy kick pedal” or ”diy bass drum pedal” on youtube and see other peoples videos on that! I would love to try and build a kick pedal myself at some point!

as an american, how can i find a random giant finnish metal bucket. i only have like 3 dollars and a 16 inch floor tom rigged up to be a bass drum
@LAURISDIYCHANNELTV Жыл бұрын
Hahah sorry not sure how to find buckets in the states! You should keep your eyes open for any kind of larger round objects like barrels, trash cans etc. You might find usable shit at fleemarkets, gardening stores or even landfills

looks nice but waste time and effort you can make a ols suitcase sound perfect in recordings if you use a mid size old 60s 70s suitcase all others sound terrible but why do this if a floor tom will do and many get thrown away so can use them for kick as a micro kit took time to work out how to make the perfect snare out of tin and springs but sounds exactly same as tama snare maybe see my video on this stuff
