This DIY bucket classifier should work great for classifying wet material when out gold prospecting. I used a 2/12 gallon bucket and put it inside of a five gallon bucket put a screen in the bottom and put some handles on it.

I made one out of a 2 gallon bucket. I'm just starting out prospecting and I can't wait to use it . Thanks a lot for the idea.

Great idea. One suggestion- I made something like this out of a dollar store mesh waste basket- if you put the carriage bolts on the inside (where the dirt is) they act as clay busters. Thanks for the video and idea

That's looking like a good one. Much better than the sit on top version. The ones I use are similar but a bit simpler. I use a one gallon bucket with a hole cut in the bottom and the screen riveted on. That way I can put a gallon of water in a 2 gallon bucket and use a twisting motion with the handle and I can screen 2 gallons of material using only 1 gallon of water. Great for the desert and much easier on the old shoulders. :-) You can use a 2 gallon bucket as well. You can see a quick shot of it in my urban prospecting video. My grandson is screening his material with it.

That sound like a good one that doesn't take much water to run I will check it out on your channel I like the the magnets and pvc pipe to remove the black sand that you made also.

Thanks I have a new BS magnet coming out that you may like as well. It increases the power of the magnets considerably. I can hardly wait to see all of your new equipment in action out in the field.

I would have thought there would be more snow. We went up by Seeley sunday to our favorite camp area and there is still a 4 foot snow burm at the road to our camp. So hopefully soon we can get out. Keep the videos coming!

I love this video. You nailed the problem with regular classifiers. Your smaller bucket idea is awesome. I will def try that out. I am also trying a metal weave waste paper basket with 1/8" holes. Bought at Target. Its not round, but square, so I will have to figure out what size hole to make the opening in the bucket lid, but I think it will also work. Just have to figure out how to attach handles. Thanks, great video Alan.

Thanks Pieter this one I made last year and it worked just fine I will say the one I made with a five gallon bucket and used in my last video worked a lot better and I don't have to bend over at all.

Thank you. This one works pretty well. I just picked up the materials today to make two classifiers with handles so you don't have to bend over and break your back.

Alan Robertson it looks great. I did the 5 Gallon bucket top route also but a pain to use, went to the deep Keene classifiers and then to a Lyman reloading screen that has handles on it. I will make one like yours and try it this season. Thanks for the idea :)

Oh yeah now i like that idea, I have a spot that is miles from water so this could work great, might try it with removable pvc handles so as it makes it easier for transport. thanks for the idea :)

I'm going to do a couple modifications on it stick a couple big bolts through the side cause i have lot of heavy bluegreen clay, and sit back use my feet to spin the handles back. But I love this back saver.

you are using wider hole mesh, should use narrow mest in order to only get filtered sand, and get rid of stones Larger than sand

I made one like your second one but they always mess the buckets up on the inside.. it will cut grooves all in them..
@alanrobertson25106 жыл бұрын
Thank you I put the screen on the inside of the bucket with the gasket that way it does not mess up the five gallon bucket. Thanks for watching.
@Thebald16 жыл бұрын
Alan Robertson Yeah I did the same... On the inside.. I made it from this video...kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGnRqmqcnauepJo.. what tears them up is the rivets and it rubs the bucket.. It takes time for it to happen..
