Nice job and great video! I have dug 3 wells on my farm using a similar method. A few suggestions. You should not put the end cap on until the screen is cut, as fine shavings will get in there and contaminate the water and/or end up in the well pump when purging the well. Also try not try to draw too much water too quickly or the screen will eventually get clogged (for instance, a deep well hand-pump) - I learned my lesson and my well just about stopped percolating because it took too much water too quickly. To prevent this on my other well, I dug a bit deeper and made a longer screen. Having a longer water column means you can draw significantly more water more quickly. Also, sediment will settle at the bottom of the pipe where the end cap is and eventually it can get up to the screen where it clogs it from the inside.

I jet 4 inch wells in pastures for cattle. I started using a filter sock around the slotted casing pipe to help prevent fine sand from getting in the casing. Stops 99 percent of fine stuff. Fine clay can still get in. I pump my wells hard right away and get great flow. like 20gpm plus.

I put in a bore by hand some years ago, I hammered steel casing down to about 20 feet. I fabricated a point to fit on the bottom. My steel casing was in sections about 3ft long as it is driven down I would weld on a new piece. When I got to the bottom of my hole I lowered down a stainless steel screen attached to 1 inch PVC. The process is called a spear. After spear was installed I used pea gravel to cover the spear then with drew the steel casing leaving the spear behind. It worked perfectly.

I just finished watching 3 or 4 of your well videos, and applaud you for your efforts. Will also leave a comment on each one. I've done similar shallow wells over the years in my yard (Easy digging, all sand...like yours), and have tried a couple others. There is no conclusion to this style, and I'll speculate why. But 1st will say, you left out the part about filling the 4" casing hole with "trap-rock" around the casing screen, to allow the water to penetrate. We're sure you did that, right? You did show the bags, but only showed the mortar filling the hole. And next, you didn't elaborate what you did to the 4" casing, when your digger hit the mud. If you want the 1' plastic well point to be a couple feet below the water table, and you plugged off the bottom of the 4" casing, how did you drive it 2' (or more) into the mud? Your posthole digger won't make a deep enuff hole, because it will keep filling with mud. I know, cause it happened to me. No getting around it. I'm just guessing that you didn't get your 1" PVC pipe in deep enuff water, to supply your needs. Maybe that's why your next video, (only a month later) shows new 1 1/4" black pipe, with a driven sand point.

@Wroseman2 жыл бұрын
He put gravel and/or pebbles in first which he neglected to show. The gravel will allow water seepage into the slits that he cut into the pipe. Otherwise, the grout would have blocked everything and he would not have been able to draw water out of the well. I would suggest to him that because he forgot to actually mention about adding the pebbles, he should put it in text on his video because it's confusing for people to see, and even worse if people follow what he did and put grout without the pebbles, destroying everything he did.

Where I'm from, ground water everywhere, Good water beyond 350ft vertical depth though. You ain't gonna hand dig that well. Yes u can dig a 10 footer by hand but I wouldn't use for house or put anywhere near my mouth

Wtf you had to pull a permit. What a bunch of shit, if your only going to use it for the lawn.
@BadHomeowner3 жыл бұрын
Getting a permit isn't a big deal, took me 10 minutes. Localities have perfectly valid reasons to want a list of known wells in the area.

You said “First, get a permit, if you need one”. If you do that, you’re letting everyone know where to go for water if need be. Keep it on the down low!

Chlorinated your portable drilling water/mud & make sure cement annulus and keep well above flood zone height, and use sanitary well seal. Also a slab, sleeve or barricade so Joe blow doesn't run over it and Crack casing w tractor one day...common sense type stuff. No big deal & no reason to make it sound as such.

It is not illegal. that is a myth.
@docbrady63972 жыл бұрын
@@BadHomeowner no myth, it depends on where you live a far as state. The federal government also regulates ALL water in United States and they say it’s illegal. All wells by law have to be GPS tagged. So unless you know how to get a tag which you cannot unless your a licensed well Contractor how are you going to get your tag and make your well legal? Saying so does not change the facts or the fines.
@BadHomeowner2 жыл бұрын
@@docbrady6397 this is an old wive's tale. federal gov't only regulates this on land that they own. I talked to my city government, they issue permits, it's totally legal. your claim about GPS tagging is total nonsense.

@@BadHomeowner Federal government has regulated all waterways since the Bush administration. I have a friend that was arrested for cleaning dead trees that had fallen into his little pond on his property. The pond couldn’t have been more than 30x30 and he was arrested and Fined and he had to sign an agreement that he would never again touch the pond in any way shape or form that’s on his own property. the truth is they do have control and the wells ARE GPS tagged I will send you a copy of my GPS tag that doesn’t exist according to you.
